Guest guest
If you get a juicman Jr try craigslist. For a centefuge it works (I have a green star) I have heard the herone (spelling ?) is great and a little less than GS as for blender juicing you would need to add a little water I think. C - LA Saturday, May 08, 2010 1:20 AM Juicer Hi everybody, I'm thinking about getting a juicer but don't want to spend a lot on one. I really prefer to use whole foods in a blender but would like the option of juicing for a few days once and a while. I could use the blender and a nut bag but am not sure if the blender would handle carrots and such (would it?). So anyway...... I was looking at a Juiceman Jr. that is on sale. Does anyone know if they are any good? Thanks, Lorri
Guest guest
I used a blender and a nut bag to make a gallon of juice everyday for 30 days this last January/February. I could do it in less than an hour. Turned out to be faster than using a juicer. It was a VitaMix, however. It cost more than my juicer. Guest guest
I bought the new Omega VRT 330 (same machine as the Hurom, just an older more established company). I love it. Went from a GreenStar to this and find this machine much easier to use and extremely easy to clean! Shari
Guest guest
The Breville is the cheapest but the downside is it wastes produce so in the end you will end up spending more. The blender/nutmilk bag method works but but there are some people (like the Hippocrates doctors) that think that it oxidizes all the nutrients. I have a Hurom (single auger masticating juicer) and I love it because it is small (no space for a green star), juices greens really well (including wheatgrass), and is easy to clean up. It was a little over $300 from Raw Food World with free shipping. There is also the Healthy Juicer, a hand-crank juicer for about $50 that does greens really well but takes awhile to get a bulk of juice from celery and carrots. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for your comments and input. After I sent out the email I did a little googling and realized that I could use the blender (should have done that before I emailed At the moment I have a mid level blender, it's definitely more powerful than my entry level Oster (which I still love) but not as much as the Vita Mix or the Blendtec. I don't know if it will handle carrots (probably not) so I'm going to hold off for a short while. I don't want to spend the money for a juicer when for a little more I can get the blender that I need more anyway, and it will also handle my juicing needs for now. Speaking of my Oster, I recently discovered that I can use regular mason jars on this. According to what I read the old time blenders actually worked with the wide mouth jars (which I prefer and own a lot more of). I have been looking around and cannot find any new ones that are this size. Anybody out there just happen to know of any? Thanks again, Lorri
Guest guest
The best money I ever spent was about 2 years ago on my little Omega juicer. It was somewhere around $230 with shipping.Like you I wanted a cheap one at first but after doing a lot of research I had to buy one that can juice everything from carrots to wheatgrass. And it does.I love it.I cannot exist without my green juices every day.I also have a Vitamix and I tried juicing with it.It works but it's very messy with the nutmilk bags. My advice would be to save up for a good juicer instead of buying a cheap one and be disappointed. Also if you want to juice green leafy vegetables the high speed juicers are not good for that. Thanks for listening. Eva

Guest guest
Hi Eva, I agree that it would be better to get a high quality juicer though right now I need the blender more and cannot afford both. So what I've decided is the blender, then I'll start saving for the juicer. Which Omega did you get? Lorri On Behalf Of E.B.
