Guest guest
I have just discovered this recipe so haven't tried it yet but it looks yummy. It came from a NZ food site, which you might like to visit: http://www.foodlovers.co.nz/ Margaret ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apple roly poly 2 cups flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 30g butter 1 cup milk 1/4 cup sultanas 1/4 cup chopped dates 2 teaspoons finely grated orange rind 4 apples, peeled, cored and lightly cooked 1 cup apple juice 2 tablespoons brown sugar 60g butter, melted Preheat oven to 150 C Sift together flour and baking powder, rub in butter until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Make a well in the centre and add enough milk to make a soft dough. Place dough into a lightly greased baking dish creating a well in the centre. Add sultanas, chopped dates, grated orange rind, and apples. Fold the dough over the filling. Combine apple juice, brown sugar and butter, pour over dough. Bake for 1 1/4 hours
Guest guest
This does sound really good. It might be a dumb question but what are sultanas? Thanks for the new site to look through, too. ~ PT ~ The fact that astronomies change while the stars abide is a true analogy of every realm of human life and thought, religion not least of all. Guest guest
~ P_T ~ >>> This does sound really good. It might be a dumb question but what are sultanas? >>> Sultanas are what Australians, NZers, and Brits (amongst others) call what Americans call golden raisins. Guest guest
Ah, so more specifically the golden type? Thank you for the info. I enjoy learning these different words. ~ PT ~ Wisdom is the power to put our time and our knowledge to the proper use. ~ Thomas Watson, Sr. ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~> , " Lady Sappho " < ladysappho@a...> wrote: > Sultanas are what Australians, NZers, and Brits ( amongst others) call what > Americans call golden raisins. > > Lee-Gwen

Sultanas do come in a variety of colours, from golden to brown. Guest guest
No, it's not a dumb question - dumb is not asking it. Sultanas are like raisins. I live in New Zealand where sultanas are used in baking more often than raisins. We import them mainly from Australia - don't know why we don't grow our own. Raisins would be an excellent substitute for them. Margaret ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " ~ P_T ~ " <patchouli_troll wrote: This does sound really good. It might be a dumb question but what are sultanas?
