Guest guest
Hello all I just wanted to say thank you for the invite to join. Its wonderful that we have groups such as these to help each other learn more about our lifestyles and such. A note about myself: I live in Virginia and I'm a 100% raw foodist (don't like to give myself a label but just to explain) ;-) I eat only raw living foods such as lots of greens, fruits, veggies, etc.. I have a yellow lab, Sandy, and a calico cat, Cali, who are also raw only eaters (basically the " barf " diet which stands for bones and raw food for anyone who is not familiar with this). Just currently switched them to this new way of eating. I know this is a vegetarian group so if I'm out of line here just let me know. I'm not sure if the group wants a raw foodist or not. Everyone have a fantastic evening
Guest guest
Welcome to the list, Tammy. We have several raw foodists here, so you are not alone, and you are definately wanted. Thanks for posting such a nice intro. Feel free to share any recipes or menu ideas you enjoy that fit into your dietary path; I know I am always interested in reading them and learning more about raw vegan cuisine. ~ PT ~ ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~> , " Tammy " <dntblack89> wrote: > Hello all > I just wanted to say thank you for the invite to join. Guest guest
I have been looking into the raw food concept for a while now. I often have raw food meals, and even raw food days..........but I can't say that I aspire to being 100% raw........whew! I applaud you! How long have you been 100% raw? ~pixx On 23 Apr 2003 at 21:13, Tammy wrote: > A note about myself: I live in Virginia and > I'm a 100% raw foodist (don't like to give myself a label but just to > explain) ;-) I eat only raw living foods such as lots of greens, > fruits, veggies, etc.. == http://pixxart.com the Art of Living in Health, Peace, & Light
Guest guest
Hi P_T Right now I don't have any recipes I use faithfully. I mostly " mono " eat except lately I have been eating some really good salads with a lemon and coconut butter/oil dressing I make myself. I do have some great recipe books I recommend, " The Raw Gourmet " by Nomi Shannon. " Eating for beauty " by David Wolfe also has some good recipes too. I'll post some recipes I make on my own as I run across them. , " ~ P_T ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > Welcome to the list, Tammy. Guest guest
Hi Pixx I have been " transitioning " (off and on) for over a year. I have always had a desire to become 100% one day. I'll tell you what finally woke me up to be 100% raw and this may also help you as well. I have read many books on raw foodism, but no other book compelled me like " natures first law, the raw food diet " . I ordered it from http://www.rawfood.com/ (Natures First Law website). I highly recommend this site as well. I order many supplies there as well as great selections on books too. This site has the updated version 6 of this book which I recommend. To answer your question, I have only been 100% for 6 wks now and loving it! I dont ever plan to go back to any type of cooked food again ;-) , " Pixx " <lists@p...> wrote: > I have been looking into the raw food concept for a while now. Guest guest
Hi Sheryl Yes I sprouted grains when I first was introduced to juicing over a year ago. However, I don't do any of that now because my diet has taken me into a different direction. If I do have some sprouts, I buy them organically grown from my health food store. Not to say they are not to be use or anything because they can be a wonderful addition to any foods/salads! <ssarndt> wrote: How do you feel after switching to raw food? LOL that answer could start another book :-) I feel wonderful. I havent experienced much detoxing, except losing alot of weight. I contribute that to " off and on " transitioning for over a year. Although everyone is different! To say in a nutshell, life just gets more wonderful everyday! I look forward to each day just to see what experiences it brings. , Sheryl Arndt <ssarndt> wrote: > I'm not turned off by raw foodists!! I personally think it's very relevant, so send us some recipes and tell us about your experiences! I have given raw food a thought, but have never done it probably out of lack of information. I've heard about sprouting grains, then using them instead of cooking them. Do you do this? Guest guest
Oh wow you wont believe this! I'm in Fredericksburg as well. Small world huh. Ummm I dont have specific recipes. I enjoy throwing things together and see how the outcome is. I make many different kinds of salads. My favorite is mixing as many lettuces I can find (romaine, red, green, baby leaf stuff, and even dandelion if I have some handy). Then I add lots of grape tomatoes cut in half so the juice mixes as well when you stir it up. Then celery (2 stalks), cukes, then I chop parsley and garlic to add. Then juice from 1/2 lemon squeezed over it and cocnut butter. I make enough to fill an 8 cup bowl! And guess what? I can actually eat it all! Guest guest
I found a great little place called Healthway. Its a health food store. The have a small produce section that is all organic. They carry just about everything I need. They also encouraged me to let the mgr. know if I needed anything special and they would try to get it in for me. They are really nice people there. I make my huge salads from all the ingredients they have there. Also what I cant find there (or if it looks less than fresh), Ukrops carries alot of healthy lifestyle products and organic stuff too. Have a great day! :-) Tam , " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x> wrote: > hi tammy, > wow! i can't believe you are in fredericksburg too! > that's so cool! i would think it would be very hard to > eat raw in this area! where do you find fresh > produce?? which health food store do you use? > your salad sounds great! > talk to you soon, > susie > >

Guest guest
Hi Tammy! I checked out the web site you posted and found it really interesting. I'd like to try eating raw for a while and see how it goes. Could you (or any other people who eat raw foods a lot) please post some examples of what you eat in a typical day? It sounds like a great way to eat, especially during the summer months with all the fresh food. Thanks, Mary --- Tammy <dntblack89 wrote: > Hi Pixx > I have been " transitioning " (off and on) for over a > year. I have > always had a desire to become 100% one day.
