Ice Cream/Sorbet

I have an icecream maker - the kind where you freeze the chamber ahead of time,

then pour in the ingredients and watch it freeze while it cranks automatically.

I've only made the full-fat full-dairy kind of icecream (which was to

die-die-die for!) (probably literally lol) but now that I've gone veggie and

healthy I can't make that. I haven't had a bit of success yet with sorbets or

suchlike. I'd LOVE T & T recipes!!! (Tried and true.)

I use healthy-eating.com to purchase my veg pantry items. They have a shake and

" ice-cream " dry mix. I haven't used it yet but I guess since it's beginning to

feel like summer here in GA I think i'll pull it out and whipp up some flavors.

Maybe some caffine-free chocolate, vanilla bean, fresh strawberry of peach, or

ginger-peach. Maybe green tea-ginger. Humm, iI just finished finals so I can

spend a ton of time coming up with flavors. Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!!!

Ronda, for sorbets I simply use fruit juices, or blended fruit with

additional juice added. Apple juice blends well with any fruit, for

sweetness without being obviously " apple " .

My first exposure to sorbet was whole fruit and sugar free...so it is

what I prefer. The place I used to get it from, way back in the late

80's is no longer there [neither am I, actually! LOL] and I haven't

found another source for the sugar/sweetener free, without making

it myself. :~(

healthy-eating.com looks like a nice site with a lot of

products. Have you used their various mixes of soy meat?

What did you think of them?

Yes I order large quantities. Especially the " chiken breast " and pieces. I

also purchase my " bacon bits " and nutritional yeast there. There are about 30

pieces in a 1lb. bag, therefore I have to purchase the 5lb. page for my growing

family. I've shopped with them for several years now. The people at my son's

school are so surprised to find that vegetarians have an equivalent for every

meat and dairy product they have. I try to mimic the lunches served at school.
