Guest guest
I bought a jar of sun dried tomatoes awhile back. I've never cooked with them. First of all are these suckers still good, meaning how long will they last in the jar (I assume a long time but I bought them on clearance so a bit paranoid lol...p-lease give me the reassurance I needs, LOL)? Got any recipes with these sun dried tomatoes? Also have some dried fruit and a bag of frozen fruit that I'm looking to get rid of. Any idears or recipes for those guys? Thanks for any advice yall! Guest guest
I like to snip them with kitchen scissors into rice or pasta dishes. I am sure they will be fine.... you know how things smell when oil goes rancid so just look for that. And for the frozen fruit... smoothies!! Dried fruit... maybe toss it into oatmeal or something when it's cooking. peace nikki - _- matrixenos -_ Friday, May 02, 2003 1:09 PM Recipe Request Yall I bought a jar of sun dried tomatoes awhile back. Guest guest
Mmmmm sundried tomatoes are wonderful in just about anything. You can chop them up and place them on some pizza dough with some garlic, olive oil and basil for a yummy foccacia bread. Another way I have found to use them is to make a pesto sauce and add them to it. Yummy sun dried tomato pesto in your favorite shape of pasta. You can either whip up some homemade pesto, or use a package mix; Knorr makes a good one. Dried fruits go well chopped up and added to just about any cookie recipe and I usually eat frozen fruit right out of the bag while watching movies! *lol* Have a great weekend, Shawn. I bet you get addicted to those sundried tomatoes. ~ PT ~ P.S. The sd-toms should be fine as long as the jar still looks intact and there is no obvious signs of it having been opened or contaminated. ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~> , " _- matrixenos -_ " < matrixenos@h...> wrote: > I bought a jar of sun dried tomatoes awhile back. Guest guest
I woul assume the jar of tomatoes is still good as long as it's sealed. I wouldn't personally be paranoid to eat it! Depending on what your frozen fruit is, you can pop it in a blender along with a bit of orange juice (or other juice) and blend it up and drink it as a fruit smoothie! I used to do this all the time with frozen strawberries, bananas, mangoes, peaches, blueberries and then use a little orange juice or pineapple/orange juice to mix it up in the blender. No need for ice or anything else! If you wanted to, you could throw some ice cream or sherbet or soy milk in there instead. It depends what you like! _- matrixenos -_ <matrixenos wrote:I bought a jar of sun dried tomatoes awhile back. I've never cooked with them.
