Guest guest
hi I been thinking that even though I have not eat dead animals for over 14 years, I still believe I have what I call a meateater mentality for a few reasons. instead of light healthy carefully prepared dishes, I like heavy greasy dishes. I love soy tacos made with textured soy protein and lawrys taco seasoning. I love spinach lasagna, eggplant parmagean, stir fried edame, with vegetables, teriyaki sauce and noodles, various types of burritos non meat of course, curries made with soy protein, soy chilli but not with a bunch of veggies in it preferable using caroll shelby chilli mix and tvp. oh and if I get ahold of a pack of soy hot dogs I cant stop eating them until they are finished. I also like the various veggie burgers that are available. my idea of spanish rice is cooking up instant brown rice with salsa and maybe frying up some green pepper and throwing it in. as I said before other than salad veggies, peppers, and a few other veggies here and there such as those good for stirfrying I never been a big veggie fan and when I do make a salad I like at least half a head or more of lettuce and its good ole iceberg for me, though I am starting to like salad bowl and romaine even though its harder to clean. and other than OJ in the morning I aint a big fruit fan, though I do like berries, seedless grapes, and canned pineapple. also I never been a big tofu fan which is like the center of all vegetarianism lol. so there it is thats how I maybe think that though I am a vegetarian I still have a meateater mentality sorry about the book stay cool Dave
Guest guest
In reading through your list of your many likes, I would have to conclude that you are wrong to say you have a meateater mentality. I think you judge yourself a bit harshly. You do like many vegetables, but are just particular about the manner in which they are prepared. You like big " meaty " dishes, but not dishes ladden in animal fats, but rather healthy oils and textured vegetable protien that is good for you. What ever is meateater mentality about enjoying a yummy hotdog made from soy? Sounds to me like you are a perfectly fine vegetarian with your own style and tastes is all. I love those veggie hotdogs, too, smothered in a " meaty " vegetarian chili non-carne and served in a deli hoagie roll. Mmmmm I also am not a huge fan of tofu yet. I do order it when I go out, but very rarely do I cook it up for myself here at home as I cannot get my meateating family members to touch it with a ten foot pole no matter what I do. We tend to stick with textured vegetable protien and items that more clearly resemble the texture of various " meat " items in our dishes, such as Quorn brand tenders, MSF ground crumbles, Boca patties etc. We all have to do what works well for us and fits our taste. I'd say you are doing fine having not eaten any animal flesh in 14 years. ~ PT ~ Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves. ~James Matthew Barrie, author (1860-1937) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , " Dave " <2davidm@g...> wrote: > hi I been thinking that even though I have not eat dead animals for > over 14 years, I still believe I have what I call a meateater > mentality for a few reasons. Guest guest
" Meateater mentality " .....wouldn't that be like when people say " I just gotta have my meat " and they refuse to eat such substitutes like TVP or tofu?? " meateater mentality " to me would be like when someone just has to have meat and only meat and substitutes won't do. It's like they believe there is something IN the meat that makes them more whole as a person or something and to eat substitutes would lessen them as a person. ?? Guest guest
Dave, sounds like you simply like what you like. There's nothing wrong with that. I used to think I was supposed to make tofu smoothies and eat seaweed. It's whatever you make of it. BTW, I'm a vegetarian who likes Meat Loaf.
