Guest guest
Welcome to the list, Judith. We do have a recipe in our files section for a way to make your own dairy-free cheese. I believe it is in the master mixes folder...click this: Then click on the folder titled: Master Mixes Then open the text page titled: How to make VEGAN cheese Voila! Some people also can find vegan cheese to buy in the stores, though some say it is gross tasting and doesn't melt well so they would prefer to just do without. The only kinds of soy cheese I have been able to find in my area do still contain casien and trace dairy. Anyway, I hope this helps you a bit, and that you enjoy your membership here. We have a friendly crew of experienced vegans and other types of vegetarians, so feel free to ask any questions as someone will answer and offer their opinion. ~ PT ~ So short be one's youth So long the decline Only love's mighty power Makes the moments sublime. ~ Floyd Maxwell (1957- ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~> , " ,|udith " <impaled_femme> wrote: > This is my first vegetarian group to join, i wanted to know if theres > any good substitute for cheese! well if anyone has any > recommendations, ill appreciate it, thanks. > Judith
Guest guest
Hi Judith and Welcome! I like the Soya Kaas cheeses and the Veggie Slices Pepperjack for my fajitas. However, I've yet to find one that works well for that just plain cheese taste.... There's a recipe for a no-cheese in the files section somewhere, you can try that out too! -K , " ,|udith " <impaled_femme> wrote: > This is my first vegetarian group to join, i wanted to know if theres > any good substitute for cheese! well if anyone has any > recommendations, ill appreciate it, thanks. > Judith
Guest guest
If there were good cheese substitutes, I'd be a vegan! I personally do not like any of them. If you go to www.chreese.com you will find some products using nutritional yeast. I also have to recommend this company because when I asked them for donations to my vegetarian organization in Kansas City, they graciously stepped up to the plate and sent me some food samples to use at our meetings. I personally didn't care for the fake macaroni and chreese. The nacho chreese that came in a jar that you could pour over chips was much better. It's not real cheese, but I could probably get used to it and would suggest starting with it. Guest guest
After reading what I did about dairy products I can't even stand the thought of consuming them.
