Guest guest
sooooooooo, what about the fish he ate? Guest guest
: > sooooooooo, what about the fish he ate? That's why people think vegetarians eat fish. I've heard it said that the reason fish was allowed on Fridays and was not considered " meat " is because the Catholic church had a large financial stake in the fishing industry and didn't want to cut the hand that fed them. So, I would say that we can blame the Catholic church for making people think that fish isn't meat. (Not meant to offend anyone who is Catholic. I can do this you see since I am technically Catholic.)

Guest guest
I think that's probably right. But I think that people that eat fish are NOT vegetarians. Guest guest
OK, so was he or was he not a vegetarian if you read and follow the scriptures?
Guest guest
Sadly, just one more urban myth about the Vatican, as are most stories about The Church's vast wealth. They are wealthy for sure but so are " many " other institutions, organizations, and of course, families. The bottom line is that those who know won't talk, and those who talk just don't know. BTW, I'm not Catholic either. Guest guest
I guess that would depend on *your* definition of vegetarian. I am sure to some he was, and to others he was not. rwhitt1212 wrote: > OK, so was he or was he not a vegetarian if you read and follow the > scriptures? > ------ Books just wanna be FREE! Guest guest
I guess the way I look at it is if you are a vegetarian for 360+ days a year and fell off the wagon just a couple times I'd say you are still a veggie. Just not a perfect one. Robin in NC

But I think that people that eat fish are NOT vegetarians. I agree totally. That's one of my pet peeves......when people ask me if I eat fish after I tell them I'm a vegetarian. People who only eat fish are " something " , but they are NOT vegetarians!

If he indulged in fish from time to time, he is NOT a vegetarian in my book! I would call him a pescetarian, semi-vegetarian, partial- vegetarian or part-time-vegetarian!! Guest guest
Oh, I agee with you! But some wouldn't. That is why I said that it depends on ones own definition. [i call myself an on-again-off-again vegetarian, and I have my periods of time [months or years] where I am vegan even, but times where I am neither].
