Guest guest
I would like to make Susies recipe for mushroom stroganoff (in the files section) later this evening. I bought some plain tvp from the bulk bins at Whole Foods and would like to add some to the recipe. Does anyone have any good ideas to flavor these chunks as well as have a good recipe for rehydrating them? Much appreciation for any help anyone can provide! Thanks, Shawn _______________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
hi Shawn....TVP will take on the flavor of anything you are mixing it with. If you are making stroganoff, it will take the flavor of that, just mix it in. If you want to rehydrate it first, just cover it with enough water or veggie stock to cover. Guest guest
hey shawn, hope this info isn't too late..... to rehydrate tvp: for chunk-sized tvp, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 cup tvp. stir, cover and let soak for 5 minutes. vegetable broth or an un-beef broth could be used for the liquid. hope you enjoy the stroganoff! susie --- _- matrixenos -_ <matrixenos wrote: > I would like to make Susies recipe for mushroom > stroganoff (in the files > section) later this evening. Guest guest
Hi Nancy...thanks for the tip. Thanks, I didn't even think about using veggie broth...easy enough, I have a great brand called Superior Touch- Better than Boullioun, vegetable base. I think i'll use that. I didn't end up making it last night (made veggie enchiladas and will post the recipe if they end up being good), but will be making it either tonight or tomorrow night, while the shrooms are still fresh. Thanks again. Shawn ----Original Message Follows---- " Nancy K. " <nkohn hi Shawn....TVP will take on the flavor of anything you are mixing it with. Guest guest
Hi Susie...cool, thanks for the specifics. After reconstitution, I may try to flour them and fry them before adding as well. Someone mentioned that, sorry I forget who. I went to a place called Sandy's (use to be a Seekers health food market...big one too) over the weekend and got some mushrooms and yellow onions for the recipe. The produce is great there...shrooms were only .99 for a tub (got 2) or carton of those suckers...the onions were huge, never seen anything like it. I got some sea salt (always wanted to get some like chefs use) and wow that stuff is potent. I think it is suppose to be healthier than table salt...if anyone knows, please inform us. I'm not sure if it is Kosher...that's what the chefs usually use. Thanks for the recipe Susie, I'll let you know how it goes! Take care over there, Shawn ----Original Message Follows---- " artichoke72x " <artichoke72x hey shawn, hope this info isn't too late..... to rehydrate tvp: for chunk-sized tvp, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 cup tvp. stir, cover and let soak for 5 minutes. vegetable broth or an un-beef broth could be used for the liquid. hope you enjoy the stroganoff! susie _______________ Tired of spam?
