Even if the fries didn't have beef stuff in them, they would still be

disgusting. Have you ever watched a fast food place make fries?

McDonalds' fries come frozen solid in a big cardboard box. They go straight

from the box into a large deep fryer with oil that looks like it came out of

a tractor engine. When the fries are cooked (as well as defrosted), they go

under the heated lamp and are dusted with salt. Other fast food places

aren't much different.

Want to hear about the burgers? :)

Hey, people in my area have been 'jumping on the backs' of the local McDonald's

for just that for years. End result: maybe two less grains of salt dumped on

them. If that isn't enough, a few of the individual outlets have gone through

the sugar for salt routine. Ever tried fries with sugar shaken on them? Well,

imo, bllleeeeech!!!!

Really? I was sorta joking, but there are some things I can tell you:

On the upside, the cooking area is reasonably clean, except for the floor

(low priority). The staff in this area is likely to be the newest employees

and/or employees who do not understand English. Hand-washing should have

been emphasized in training, but you're really at the staff's mercy here.

Naturally, the food is all frozen solid until the day of.

A sandwich is not necessarily made right when you order it. There's an

assembly station with all the fixins kept in trays, including cooked burger

patties. After a burger is assembled, it gets thrown in the microwave. (I'm

not sure why.) By the time a sandwich makes it to the customer's view, its

minutes are numbered. Most are pretty good about discarding food that has

been in the front too long.

Other stores...

Dairy Queen: Wouldn't feed it to my dog. Stick to the ice cream.

Dunkin' Donuts: If you're concerned about germs, ask for your bagel's cream

cheese on the side. They use wax paper to handle everything, but in order to

put cream cheese on a bagel, they have to actually touch it with their bare,

unwashed hands.

Arby's: FYI, their specialty coffees are likely to have been made at 8AM

that morning. Never hurts to ask. Also, they're not very good about

preventing accidents. The kitchen staff in particular have to be careful to

keep their fingers from getting smashed in the bun-buttering device. It

happens anyway. I have to wonder...
