Guest guest
I am glad you joined this list and I hope you find it helpful. In reading your posts about food intake and how much activity you are doing, it made me wonder if you had ever had your thyroid tested? You may have already done that, but on the off chance you have not you might want to go ask your doctor to check those levels. It might be as simple as getting that regulated to help your metabolism kick in properly. Just a thought. Everything you are doing for your body sound like it is right on track and very healthy. Keep up the good work. ~ PT ~ Oh, we have a home. We just need a house to put it in. ~ anonymous homeless child
Guest guest
I actually did have my thyroid tested. The reason for the weight gain was medication so I wonder if maybe thats why its harder to get off. I'm just going to keep up what I'm doing and try my best! =) ~ P_T ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: I am glad you joined this list and I hope you find it helpful. Guest guest
Oh good. I am glad to read you have ruled that out as well. My mother has a similar situation to yours. She is only 4'11'' and weighs 190lbs now. It all happened when she started taking this drug for her panic disorder that caused her metabolism to basically shut down and put her body into starvation mode. Now she eats only enough to keep a small bird alive, yet cannot loose weight. She can't go off this drug either since it helps to keep her somewhat balanced. It is a sad situation. However, there is hope. She has found that by joining a health club, working out and swimming, has helped her to feel better about herself and to maintain some feeling of health. ~ PT ~ Possession of material riches, without inner peace, is like dying of thirst while bathing in a lake. ~ Paramahansa Yogananda ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~> , K <wantstolearn1> wrote: > I actually did have my thyroid tested. Guest guest
Oh yes that is sad, but its more important that she is functional, happy and doing what she's doing sounds as though she is keeping herself healthy at least. Medications suck. I'm glad I was able to get off of mine and hope I never have to go on it again, and if I do I might try another kind because the weight gain is no fun. The worst part is that the doctors all told me that weight gain was rare, and there wouldn't be withdrawl... they were wrong on both counts. Grr! Also I'd like to mention to everyone that I'm back to losing. I upped my cal intake ever so slightly and sticking with the veggies (1 week and 1 day! Wee!!) and I lost the 4 lbs that I gained. Maybe my body did just need to adjust to the new life style and a little tweaking of the calories. Now I just have to stick to it and wait patiently! =) ~ P_T ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: Oh good.
