July 4th menus or weekend menus?

Anyone have any special plans for the weekend...any particular food plans?

I'd like to grill something good, maybe some veggies or some sort of veggie

patties...not particularly in the mood to smell like grill but I guess I'll

test the mood as the weekend approaches. Right now I'm making some pinto

beans from scratch, consisting of onion, garlic, oregano, mexican oregano,

bay leaves and a few dried de arbol chiles (going to add cilantro at the

end). If it tastes half as good as it smells now, I will be completely

satisfied.

Share with us any plans or food plans that ya have...let's get some ideas

rolling. :)

Take care,

Shawn

My family favourite baked bean recipe is, I believe, in the files

section. The best thing about it (in addition to the taste, of course)

is that it cooks in the crockpot/slowcooker, so it doesn't heat the

house up. It takes 24 hrs or more though, so you have to plan for

enough time. If you can't find it, I can post it again.

Hola Nancy! Oooh grilled tempeh sounds good. I still haven't tried it yet.

MMM, grilled veggies...delightful. Glad you found the baked bean recipe

(sorry i'm too late responding for the recipe). What kind of marinade do

you use for the tempeh? I've grilled plain, firm tofu a couple of times and

it was a bit tricky and sticky. I should prolly use more olive oil. Do you

have any tricks for the tempeh? I hope everything turns out as

planned....have a good weekend and welcome home again!

Cheers,

Shawn
