Guest guest
I know I get plenty of protein. I'm not worried about B12 either because I take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement. But I do worry about getting enough Omega 3 & 6. Where can I get that? I'm an almost vegan. I try really hard to stay away from anything that's animal derived. I do eat honey though. That's why I say I'm an almost vegan. Could somebody please tell me some good sources of Omega 3 & 6? TIA ~Janice~ Be your own cheerleader! Encourage yourself every step of the way! Guest guest
I have an issue with this b12 stuff. Personally I believe that we produce our own b12 like other animals do, and that it is the meat industry that wants us to think otherwise. There are other cultures that do not eat any meat products and stay healthy. So what's the " beef " ???? -- In , " ~Janice~ " <serenity1@m...> wrote: > I know I get plenty of protein. It shouldn't be heated, as heat destroys the nutritional value, so if you want to stir it into cooked cereal or something else liked cooked veggies, wait until the food is mostly cool. It has a slightly fishy taste, so I try to add it where I won't notice the fishy taste or the oily texture. Ideas: smoothies, mix into yogurt or pudding, cooked cereal (cooled), salad dressing... I believe I read somewhere that you should try to consume about a tablespoon per day.

Guest guest
if you don't like the taste of flax seed oil, they also sell bags of the seed at health food stores and whole foods. or you can also get hemp seed... i also saw some hemp seed butter at whole foods market. Guest guest
" It shouldn't be heated, as heat destroys the nutritional value " so if this is true, (which I believe it is) why is everyone claiming that fish is an excellent source of omega 3. unless it is raw e.g. sushi won't the omega 3's be turned into trans fatty acids? ---
Guest guest
One of my pals from a coffee list I host just recently found a hemp enriched coffeebean brand at his healthfood market. He bought it to try, being the curious sort, and it claimed on the package to be a source of omega 3 & 6. Go figure... I could get my coffee fix, and get some healthy stuff besides. Guest guest
who would dream of cooking fish? if you are going to eat it, eat it raw. raw salmon in a philly roll at my local sushi bar would be my choice; that is if i were in the market for senseless slaughter of aquatic sentient lifeforms for my own selfish dining pleasure. lucky them, i'm not. , " dave " <dave4sale> wrote: > " It shouldn't be > heated, as heat destroys the nutritional value " > > so if this is true, (which I believe it is) why is everyone claiming > that fish is an excellent source of omega 3. unless it is raw e.g. > sushi won't the omega 3's be turned into trans fatty acids? " It " = The Flaxseed oil. Who is talking about fish? Not meee... Here is an article on flax from Vegetarian Resource Group. http://www.vrg.org/journal/vj2001sep/2001sepomega3.htm Skip down in the article to " Flax Facts " , here is the quote: " Flaxseed oil is very perishable, and is sensitive to heat, light, and oxygen. It should not be used for grilling or frying, but can be used in cold foods. Try using it in salad dressings and sauces, and use just a little at a time. Guest guest
Is cereal baked or just dried? I'm eating all this hemp granola and flax flakes and it just occured to me the omega 3's might have been destroyed.
