Tasting the Air

I actually read, maybe even posted, an article about that recently. Seems

some of us have super-sensitive taste, and these folks tend to dislike

various specific things. They are the sort of folks who taste mostly

earth when they eat, say, dark green leafy veggies, or red beets. They

over-react to super-sour candies, or to spices.

You may indeed be one of those.

As for bottled water, I quite agree, they do taste widely different. And

if you look on Dasani, it actually tells you that minerals have been added

FOR TASTE.

Don't every buy Dasani - it's owned by the evil Coca Cola empire for

one thing and it's just filtered tap water with added Sodium, as you

rightly point out. As if we need more Sodium in our diets !

I *love* super sour or super spicy foods!! The level of garlic that

most people think is enough, I can't even taste.

What I do seem to be super sensitive to is [what I call] chemically

stuff. To the point of even being able to taste certain odors in the

air, long before my friends ever even smell anything. [ I can't smell;

born that way.] So, sure! I *can* taste the air!! [loved that subject

line!]

I knew about Dasani...[i think it's kinda funny, that! added sodium,

for one.] But I wasn't refering to that one. Some bottled water just

tastes better than others...I drink only bottled 'spring' water, so I

assume I am tasting the various minerals [and what-not] from the

area the water is obtained.

Nope! I believe potassium is added as well.

So what's with Coke? I don't drink it, because I don't like the way it

tastes, but what did I miss?

It's OK - I live near the coast - I'll just drink some sea water instead. ;-)

Coca Cola, like most multinationals, is a pretty obnoxious company.

Try this for starters: <http://www.caja.org/coke/>.
