Re: Meat eating omnivores

First of all, the planet now has about 8 Billion people. We slaughter about 20

billion animals a year in the USA alone.

Each animal eats grains and uses water that could be used by people.

Animals use anti-biotics that could be used on people.

Just do the math, humanity cannot afford to continue eating animals, period.

I've raised children as vegetarians and they are very healthy, with no vaccines.

I am not a vegan but I believe that is for the future of humanity.

You cannot be healthy by eating sick animals.

You should avoid causing pain and suffering to animals to avoid pain and

suffering to yourself.

you are wrong on several counts here. all apes eat meat if they

can get it. we crave it

fungi are eaten by us so that shoots down your argument about

fungi also fungi mostly eat dead things they dont kill to eat

vegans do need supplements of a certain vitamin its one of the

b vitamins if I remember correctly but what ever one it is it is

missing from a vegan diet ( no eggs or dairy or any products

from animals of any kind)

if they dont have it they are fine for about four years. then they

have depleted their reserves and start to show signs of

psychosis

if they dont get it they will have full blown psychosis. they may

be diagnosed with a mental illness falsely

my sister was, for about six years, a vegan and so was her

daughter

my family researched veganism heavily because we were

worried about her child

who is very small for her age even now at nine

they took the supplements and every now and then my sisters

cravings for meat were overwhelming and she cheated

my mother used to feed meat to my neice against my sisters

wishes ( my mothers understanding of boundaries is very

elastic) and she used to wolf it down like another child might do

with icecream or chocolates

I have been a vegetarian and i loved eating that way... i ate dairy

products like yoghurt and cheese and also eggs then though. I

think veganism is very unhealthy if the person does not

understand what they are doing and many who eat this way do

not> I think its completely irresponsible to feed a child this way

or a pregnant or lactating mother.

That would be B12, right?? I don't quite understand people saying

this........isn't spirulina a plant? it's seaweed. it has B12.

spirulina is an algae, and we think it has b12 in it, but it is

expensive. you can also get a vegan b12 that is made in the lab.

nevertheless, unfortunately there are defensive meat-eaters who

perpetuate this info and insist that eating meat is natural and

therefore justified. to which i reply: Rape is a natural way to

procreate.

===> expensive?? I buy 'certified organic hawaiian

spirulina', 100 tabs, for about 5 bucks!

5 bucks isn't too bad, but i consider any supplement " expensive " in

that it's something i have to buy that doesn't help fill my belly.

but most multivitamins contain b12 anyhow, so i just get those.

well, usually whenever i point out all the horrible things which

are " natural " they jump into the " those things are done to humans,

they're different " or " you need food to live " rants. I would conclude

that arguing with meat-eaters about the ethics (or lack thereof) of

meat is a waste of time if not for the fact that i was " converted " by

such arguments. But generally if you want to convert a meat-eater you

are better off getting them to eat veggie foods, then they may be

more receptive to animal rights concepts.

I don't understand what you mean by " we think it has b12 in it " as

my bottle shows that one serving contains 35% of the daily value

for B12.

I've heard some controversy over whether the spirulina actually

contains the b12 or whether it comes from a bacteria or something

that lives around the spirulina and ends up in the pills.
