Guest guest
INDIANAPOLIS -- McDonalds is testing a new kind of Happy Meal in Indiana -- one for adults, not kids. FAST FOOD How Does Your Fast-Food Meal Rate? The company is testing new " Go Active Happy Meals " in central Indiana starting Tuesday. Instead of a burger and a toy, it will include a salad, an exercise booklet and a small pedometer to encourage people to walk more to maintain good health. The test program will be at more than 150 McDonalds in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Muncie, Lafayette and Kokomo this fall. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/2487819/detail.html _______________ Use custom emotions -- try MSN Messenger 6.0! http://www.msnmessenger-download.com/tracking/reach_emoticon

Guest guest
Well I live in Indiana and I would be more than happy to see McDonalds finally getting with program considering their food is NASTY!!! I don't think there are nearly as many people around here who are vegetarian's, but in certain towns there are a number of people that are...like Bloomington where I am originally from, Indiana University is there so there are a lot of people there who are health conscious. And on top of that, what better place to start testing these ideas than some where, where people are looking to get fit...not already are fit!!! Indiana is a lot more diverse than people think.... Guest guest
What a completly awful thing to assume about Indiana! Just because people CHOOSE to live here doesn't mean that they are not interested in being healthy. There are a number of athletes that are from Indiana, along with a great number of people who are active. As a matter of fact I saw a statistic on MSN that said something to the affect of Indiana has 46% of adults here could pass a fitness test, compared to a number of other states Maybe I am sterotyping too, but I always considered " vegetarians " a little more openminded in general. This coming from someone who LIVES in Indiana. Try knowing some facts first before assuming such thigns...only shows stupidity in my opinion. Where are you from? Jamie ~ see where or if it will go anywhere..most people who are there are not interested in health or they wouldn't be there.. That's true. Also, the salads will probable be make with Iceberg lettuce. ~Janice~ Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says... The only place we eat out at is a local oriental place (where i am well known lol ) or subway...where i work..lol i am the one making the sub so i am happy! warm regards niccii , Jamie Albright <jamiea_26> wrote: > Well I live in Indiana and I would be more than happy to see McDonalds finally getting with program considering their food is NASTY!!! Guest guest
Nice PR attempt. And somehow this is going to make everything alright? Whew!!! These people take my breath away. I suppose they think that having brainwashed the kids into wanting Happy Meals they can now take those kids, now grown up presumably, and get them addicted to the idea of a 'toy' pedometer and exercise book in each salad? I don't think so. Addicted McMeat eaters want the cow fat and the sugar rush. *And* they're not likely to make a collection of pedometers, are they? Or maybe I just overestimate the gullibility of the current adult generation, whatever or wherever that is. Me, I'm for post adultery. And no need of any 'ometer to keep score. Guest guest
I don't think fad diets work, and least of all a lame attempt by McDonalds to mask the fact that they support the slaughter of millions of cows (pigs, chicken & fish 2) throughout the world. Too bad we can't force companies like that to show the actual process of how meat gets to your table. They are making a fortune on the backs of the helpless and voiceless. Happy Meal my ass. They customer won't be very happy when they learn that they also pay for the karma of slaughtering so many innocent animals. Just because they didn't do the actual killing is no exemption from responsibility. Americans see the meat nicely packaged and delivered but if they were actually conscious of what it takes to get the meat to market most would be appalled. What to speak of the other environmental impacts of cow/animal slaughter. Also, how many people know that horses are being slaughtered on a daily basis for consumption as well? How is having a dog different from having a pet cow or horse? Would you kill your dog for food? We all know the answer to that. Things will never change while we continue to elect officials that own cattle ranches and are shown eating steak at official State dinners, etc. and are swayed by meat industry lobbyists. PS Dr. Phil has a new book and weight loss challenge on his show. www.drphil.com It just started and they are tracking 13 obese people for 10 months who will follow his 7 step process. It is not a diet but a lifestyle change. Should be interesting. We should all write him and lobby for vegetarianism to be included in his discussions. Guest guest
Interesting article, Shawn. Itis always fun to watch what the " enemy " is doing. This is just further proof to me how disreputable and underhanded McD's are. They are trying anything and everything to get the money from the increasingly healthconscious people to improve their sales from this growing demographic. They know that people are continuing to learn more about health and seeing the negative effects of eating their disgusting products. It used to be considered a fun thing or good thing to treat your kids to this food, now when we see folks treating their kids often to this stuff we see them as bad parents or very uninformed people about nutrition. McD's knows this too and this recent ploy is purely an attempt to help soften their bad image. My guess as to why they chose Indiana to test run this is that it is in the middle of the country and thus " middle America " , that's all. ~ PT ~ Kindness is no common virtue. Guest guest
I hope by now you realise that nobody here was talking badly about the people from the state of Indiana, Jamie. They were talking about McDs; everyone knows there are some healthy people in your state the same as everywhere else. Nicci meant to say, " most people who are there (eating at McDs) are not interested in health or they wouldn't be there..
