ok ..question for all that wish to respond..

what is on your grocery list? i mean the stuff you have to have every

week the staples you check to make sure you have?Also what style of

cooking do you prefer as well as country and area?

The dairy isn't for me, but it is part of my grocery list. This is just what I

could think of at the moment. I like a lot of tomato based dishes and quick

stuff to eat. I don't really like to cook much. Crock Pot recipes are my

favorite.

NOTE: *begs* Please be kind to me and my family...

My family basically are " semi-vegetarians " ...a vegetarian book declared this

within the definitions of various types of vegetarians, so I hope you won't

ask me to leave this very wonderful group...We are slowly phasing things out,

still, so please be kind to me with my list - - - we are slowly heading towards

total ova-lacto vegetarianism....

 

*items starred on pantry list are new things I bought at the HFS and didn't

try yet...

 

These things are always on hand, in the refrigerator, freezer, and in the

pantry:

shredded LF cheddar, Mexican cheese blend, and mozzarella

broccoli

spinach

mixed vegetables

homemade soup (usually, vegetable and barley or other vegetarian soup)

pizza (I like the store brand :)

low fat ice cream

eggplant, pepper, and onion (freshly cubed, ready to make Rachel Ray's

eggplant curry :)

lima beans

Yukon Gold organic fries

and, any other frozen veggie I may need for a recipe

 

Pantry:

vanilla and other extracts

spices - almost every single spice commonly found in the supermarket.....

(including very huge containers of TONE's spices bought at SAM's: parsley

flakes; chives; minced garlic; dried mushrooms)

canned beans (kidney, cannellini, Great Northern, pinto, garbanzos, black

beans, and " small white beans " )

Vegetarian baked beans

canned veggies - low sodium or no salt added (green beans, wax beans, stewed

tomatoes, peeled tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, sliced beets, corn niblets,

sliced mushrooms)

canned mock duck and mock ground meat (seitan, bought at Asian market)

*Vegan Shortening *just bought it at the HFS - will try it out when I begin

baking*

Chatfield's Carob Powder

Any suggestions as to what to buy to replace sugar in baking, will be

appreciated.

I would prefer something I can use equal amounts of when substituting in

recipes I like already..... :)

You were asking about a sugar substitute for baking.....

 

I use Stevia - it's available in either powder or liquid - at the health food

store. It's made from a plant grown in South America (I think). It's a natural

sweetener, not an artificial sweetener grown in a lab. I use it for baking and

for hot tea. It's doesn't work well on cold cereal. I haven't tried it on

cooked cereal - yet.

Apart from the box of organic fruit and veggies I have delivered? Okay,

I need:

 

brown basmati and other rice

wholewheat pasta

spelt flour

walnuts, almonds, seeds, raisins

soy milk

orange juice

bottled water

organic tea and coffee

nutritional yeast

blackstrap molasses

tofu

tempeh

TVP

butter substitute

olive oil

dried beans and lentils

fresh cilantro, basil, parsley

varied spices and condiments

 

Want my address for delivery *lol* ????

 

We usually cook south-east asian food plus varied salads and soups, and,

less often, chilli and Italian-style pasta. When shall we expect you for dinner?
