soy dilemma

As I understand it, wheat gluten doesn't contain all of the 8

essential amino acids; the only " complete " vegan proteins I'm aware

of are found in soybeans and hemp seeds. Meatheads like to claim

that meat and dairy are the only complete proteins, but this is just

propaganda. Gardenburger makes some delicious BBQ ribs which contain

both gluten and soy protein. Also, as long as you eat some type of

bean or nut along with the gluten I think you should be okay in the

amino acid dept.

I've had those gardenburger ribs I like em alot. aint it funny how

hemp has all the right amino acids, can be refined to run a car,

restore the ozone layer. yet there is still this war against it go

figure. as far as this bit about soy messing with thyroid medications

or whatever, I am on synthroid for thyroid control and my last tests

showed me having the correct amount of thyroid and my diet is fairly

heavy on the soy side of things. stay cool, Dave

I think I read somewhere that quinoa is also a complete protein, but

haven't checked myself.

Best,

Pat

hard to find than hemp seed?

Now that I don't know ;=) I do know that (organic) quinoa is always

available at my nearby Bulk Barrel right next to the quinoa flour

(anyone know about using that?), kumat (which I couldln't even begin to

guess how to use) and amaranth (likewise). I haven't noticed hemp seed

there but, next time, for interest's sake, I'll have a look for it ;=)

If you recommend, I'll buy it too - but you'll have to tell me how to

use it ;=)

Meanwhile, I'll look these things up on the net and answer some of my

own questions. And I'll report back on the quinoa.

Best,

Pat

P.S. Now that I think of it, I haven't seen quinoa for sale anywhere

else, so perhaps it is indeed difficult to buy.
