ROMANIAN SWEET PASTA (Serves 8) ________________________ A friend from Romania taught me a recipe similar to this one. Traditionally, honey and more nuts are used. Debra Wasserman cooked this vegan dish on Good Morning America. 1 pound eggless pasta (454 G) 12 cups water (3 liters) 1 cup maple syrup (240 ml) 1/2 cup walnuts, ground (115 ml) or 1/3 cup poppy seeds, ground 1/2 teaspoon lemon rind, minced (2 ml) 1-1/2 cups raisins (360 ml) 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves (2 ml) 1 teaspoon cinnamon (5 ml) Cook pasta in boiling water until done. Drain. Heat maple syrup and walnuts or poppy seeds in a large pot over medium heat for 2 minutes. Add lemon rind, raisins, clove powder, and cinnamon. Continue cooking for 3 more minutes. Add cooked pasta. Mix well and serve warm. You can also pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes before serving. Guest guest
What an interesting recipe. Wish I had it when my Romanian guests were here so I could have asked them about it. I'll have to email it to them when I know they are back home and ask if it is something they would enjoy. Thanks for sharing it here. I did ask them to tell me about a few traditional dinner items they frequently eat. They said lots of soups and stuffed cabbage rolls filled with meat and rice. I figured I could make a vegetarian version using some veggie ground in place of the meat. ~ feral ~ People hate as they love, unreasonably. ~William Makepeace Thackeray, novelist (1811-1863) ~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~~> , " nadiana01 " <Nadiana1@a...> wrote: > this was emailed to me today, and it sounds great, so i thought i'd > share... > > ROMANIAN SWEET PASTA > (Serves 8) > ________________________ > > A friend from Romania taught me a recipe similar to this one. > Traditionally, honey and more nuts are used.
