Guest guest
Dognut - yes, I did get the Frosty Paws recipe. I get the daily digest so dont see messages as soon as they are posted. I think when you said " recipe " I assumed " meal " , but treats are good too!!! That one sounds great - I might even share it with my girls! LOL I dont get attachments either, which is a bummer at times, because it seems that at the bottom of EVERY message, it says [this message contained attachments] I never know if it's just someone's stationary or if it's something important. Oh well, I will check the archives and see if I can get your attachment from there. Thanks. Thanks also for the recipes and dog food ideas for those who shared. I am very glad now that I did not push the grapes on my girls!! Especially with my Tobi; she's already got liver damage, Lord knows she doesn't need any more organ damage!! I will also share that info with my vet. She doesn't push natural foods or homeopathic medicine on her patients, and admits that she is NOT an expert, but she WILL make inquiries and find out info for those who request it. I also am going to have to invest in Dr. Pitkairn's (sp?) book. I hear there's alot of good info in there. My Mom has loaned hers out so many times, she has no idea where it is!! Will also be checking out those Janet mentioned. Dont think I can handle any more mail volume, but if I can get into the archives without signing up, I'm sure there will be lots of helpful info. If not, I will probably sign up after the holidays. Thanks in general to ALL of you too!! I have rarely posted anything, but have enjoyed reading as much as I can (save EVERYTHING though so I can read later). I try to learn as much as I can about healthy eating and incorporate as much vegetarian foods into our diet as possible. I have to be VERY careful about getting enough iron and our family doc has said neither my Mom nor I were cut out to be strict vegetarians, but we do focus on healthy foods in any case. We try to eat plenty of iron-rich veggies, but SUPPOSEDLY there is a difference between iron in meat and in veggies and for some the iron in veggies is just not sufficient. My hubby doesn't care about health; to him NO meal is complete without meat, so I have to fake it whereever possible. : ) Thanks again & God Bless, Vivian ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Past Is History And The Future is a Mystery But Today Is a Gift... Guest guest
You're very welcome for the recipe, grape info. & the food attachments. I hope it's all helpful to you. Noone notices but my name is in my signature. I should change the color of it so it will stand out! Vcw97 wrote: Dognut - yes, I did get the Frosty Paws recipe. Guest guest
My mother's dog used to dig up carrots from the garden, and munch at the courgettes on the plant - she was never very popular when she did that! A quick word to Vivian about Iron that may help if you don't already know... The fruit sugar fructose and vitamin C help the absorption of iron. The tannin in tea reduces absorption (and for other vitamins too). Some good veggie sources of iron are bran cereals (although it seems that the fibre also inhibits absorption, duh!), sesame seeds, nuts, pulses and dried apricots. Contrary to popular belief, although spinach is high in iron, it's not a source that is readily absorbed by the body. Take a look at the Veg Soc page www.vegsoc.org/info/iron.html to see if that helps at all. There seems to be a lot of other info out there too for sources of iron etc so worth surfing. Guest guest
Thanks for the info, I will certainly check it out! Right now I feed my collie(18 months) a combo of home cooked and human grade dog foods such as Innova, Wellness and Canidae. So far so good!
