Guest guest
Well, here they are... this is kinda a start for me, I've done this for 2 months with decent success.. some days are blank, usually on weekends. We tend to throw things together more then, and I don't always go back to record it. I need to get better at planning 3 meals a day for weekends. During the week I just plan dinners, usually we have fruit or bagels for breakfast. We take leftovers to work for lunch. We still eat some fish & chicken, so you'll see this on the menus. My dh still likes to eat chick.... I still tend to cook it some just for lack of other ideas! That's partly why I joined this list lol... I think I need to get better at planning a variety of veggies, like I said before we tend to fix starches & miss out on our veggies some. Hopefully I will get better at this over time!! I try to go through each week & plan a simple night, a mex night, a pasta night, etc. that way it's easier to plan a dish & not feel like we're repeating things too much. I try to have crock night on Thursdays so there is one night I don't have to cook or clean up much. Also, like someone else said, we still try to get what's on sale. I'll plan for a few veggies, then when we get to the store I'll get what's on sale & add that to the menu. Usually we also buy the fruit that's on sale. That usually goes with our breakfasts & lunches... Also, we do fish night every other Sunday or so. We try to get what's on sale or what looks the best that day. I don't list desserts on here - we LOVE ice cream, so we eat that way too much. I have found that I LOVE Sun Soy milk (vanilla) so when I can find that in the store I'll get that and have a glass for dessert. (Most stores here carry Silk Soy which I DO NOT LIKE.) Anyway, enough babbling for me >>Hello there Angi... I would be really interested in getting some advice and ideas on meal planning. I'm a fairly new vegetarian and am having some difficulty in planning different types of meals. I also do the spur of the moment meals with my work schedule and long for a more balanced plan. Maybe you can share some of your plans with us/me if its not too much of an imposition. Guest guest
Angi.. Thanks for the insight, I found a few of your ideas helpful and will try using some in the future. Now if I could only get better at making a plan for one person. It's hard cooking for one and I always have tooooo many leftovers. :-> For those that are more " vegetarian " minded, I have attached a link to another I belong to that sends lots of Vegetarian recipes out. There seems to be very little chat but definitely lots of wonderful ideas and many of the items are VERY good. Maybe some of you already belong to this group. Anyway, the address is SDA-veg-recipes2 Thanks again for the ideas... Guest guest
Amy - I totally understand that! When I was single Subway always seemed like the best option, since I could never go through a loaf of bread or head of lettuce by myself anyway I can tell that you're doing way better than I ever did!! ~Angi >> >>Now if I could only get better at making a plan for one person.
