Guest guest
I just want to say that I think the Gimmee Lean ground beef is the best. I love it. It's much better than the others I've tried. I'm eating a meatball stroganoff with it as I write. Guest guest
Absolutely! The recipe actually calls for ground turkey or beef but the beauty of the Gimme Lean is that it's an easy substitute. Meatballs Tetrazzini 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs 1 garlic clove, minced (I used equiv. pwd because I like it to mix evenly) 1/2 t. dried basil 1/8 t pepper 3/4 lb. (1 roll) Gimme Lean 1 t. butter or margarine 1 med. onion, sliced 1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, quartered (I sliced them) 2 T. flour 1-1/2 cups milk 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese Chopped fresh parsley, optional Additional grated cheese, optional In a bowl combine 1st 4. Add the Gimme & mix well. Shape into 1 in. balls. Brown meatballs in butter in a large skillet. Stir in onion & mushrooms; sauté until golden. In a small bowl whisk flour & milk until smooth. Add to skillet, bring to boil, cook & stir for 2 minutes until thickened. Stir in cheese & serve over pasta. Sprinkle with parsley & additional cheese if desired. Yield: 4 servings. I browned the meatballs & took them out of the skillet. I browned the mushrooms because I like them brown & nutty tasting. And then I added the onions & caramelized them & went on. It's SO good. Guest guest
I meant to answer this earlier but I deleted the original post. don't know where you are but I'm in metro Detroit & I can get it at just about any grocery store. They are carrying quite a bit of veggie products now. caroltreehugger wrote: Hi, You can contact the manufacturer of Gimme Leanat www.lightlife.com contact owner: -owner Mail list: Delivered-mailing list List-Un: - no flaming arguing or denigration of others allowed contact owner with complaints regarding posting/list or anything else. Guest guest
I'm new to the group. What is Gimme Lean? Is it common to find it in a grocery store, or would I need to look at a health food store? We use the Morningstar " beef " crumbles alot, but I'd like more variety. We have a really large health food store here, called Akins. But it's pretty expensive to shop there. Guest guest
I am sorry,. I sent that message before I was done. I buy Gimme Lean at Safeway. It is in the refrigerated section where he vegan cheese and Tofu are kept. I don't know if they have products other than the vege sausage, and ground beef. I have only tried the sausage, and like it very much. I make most of my meat substitutes, like gluten. I grind it, and use it in various ways. I love to cook and experiment. I find that it is easier to stock up when things are on sale, and I order things from co-ops. You might see if there are any co-ops that deliver in your area. You might contact one of the Seventh Day Adventist churches in your area. They often have vegetarian cooking classes, and have stores in some areas. Good eating.
