I recently had one at BK. The manager was there, was very nice, and totally

assured me it will not come into contact with any meat at all. They seem to

have been trained concerning this and go out of their way to reassure people.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 25 years, until recently, have never eaten

fast food, don't really know much about fast food. I agree with many animal

rights people (who ordinarily don't even like BK!) and, in spite of their

arguments against the fast food industry, they are glad BK is now offering a

veggie burger to the public and are asking us to support them in this

endeavor. I don't think they're going to make a ton of profits on my burger a

week. In my mind, I'm supporting vegetarianism, and it indicates this country

is taking small steps in recognizing more and more people want alternatives

to meat.

I did a lot of waitressing in my life, and I've even seen this done in

so-called high class places. Everyday I used to say a prayer being grateful I

didn't eat meat. I'm very, very picky about where I go to eat out, and I

can't think of any place where I've worked that I would go as a customer. And

these are considered really nice retaurants.

I thought the BK ones were really good, but I also love Grillers. Not so

keen on Boca Burgers, though. The BK ones are all grain, spices and veggies.

They said too many people said they were allergic to soy, so they opted for

ones without it.

I've tried most of them, but I stick with Grillers and sometimes the oven

roasted veggie ones cause they're crunchy. ;-)

Yes, it's not a pretty picture. When you work there you see it all! I've

never worked at a fast food place, but I've worked at well-known major chains

and above average local places. Some are worse than others, but they were all

pretty bad;-).

Grillers or the oven roasted veggie ones? I think the oven roasted veggie

ones come closer to the original GB. Grillers are juicier or something. I

have two male friends who eat meat and they love Grillers, so maybe they

taste more like meat.

Hi! I was thinking about the veggie burger at Burger

King the other day when I ran into a friend who's in

management at our local BK.

He told me that the veggie burgers are placed on a

belt that goes through the broiler. At this time,

there is no juice or fat on the belt.

After the vb is cooked, someone is in position at the

other end to catch them in a separate pan. Otherwise,

they would fall onto a conveyor covered in burger

grease....oh, and the mayo is low fat, but not fat

free, vegan or organic.

I don't mean to start a long debate again, but just have to respond to this

after just reading " Fast Food Nation " . I was going to try one of these

before reading the book, but now have no intention of eating at a fast food

joint again. And who needs to support this industry?

But how did it taste? Some places have veggie burgers that taste

great and some are awful. The best I ever had was on an airline and

I couldn't get any info re it. I dislike Boca Burgers--they taste

slimy to me but Grillers are tolerable with garlic pickles. Of

course, I didn't esp like hamburers when I did eat meat so maybe I

am way too picky re veggie burgers.

Thanks. Max

BK usually adheres pretty tightly to standards and

regulations. They are typically very clean and

well-managed. That is very rare in the food

industry. The meat is some of the fattiest stuff

around, though!

Even my dog doesn't eat processed food! lol

For me, it depends on the type of burger. There are

some Boca and Morningstar burgers that I don't like,

and some that are tolerable, and some that I like. My

favorite is Morningstar's " oven roasted veggie " veggie

burger. I love those, but not the other Morningstar

burgers.

I've taken Grillers to cook-outs and had meat eaters snatch them

up. Used to just take what I would eat, now take more to share. I

try to grill them myself, if the host lets me, because they will dry

out if left on too long. There is usually a corner of the grill

that is meat free and not too hot.

Who makes the grillers. I might have missed it if someone already said.

Morningstar, I think (I don't have any right now to check for

sure). They are in the frozen food section.

I tried one without the mayo and they weren't too bad. I had mustard added for a little bit of a kick.

I worked at a burger king in high school, and we were instructed to simply assure people who had concerns about animal fat touching other things (fries, for example, which were supposedly fried in something other than animal fat) to just go along with them. Of course, this was many years ago, but I would be leary of trusting them!

How about some recipes from everyone for their favorite homemade veggie burgers! (I'll start looking mine up!)

I had to add ketchup to mine. If I have to eat fastfood it is ok.

The ones I'm talking about say " Original " on the box.

I haven't seen the Gardenburger grillers yet.
