Guest guest
Help! I need healthy snacks that I can cook/mix. I am looking for something other than unadorned fruit and vegetables. Do you have snack recipes that incorporate fruits or vegetables and have no added sugar or artificial dyes? Anyone have a recipe for making popsicles with out sugar and artificial dyes? Thanks, Marilyn Determination and perseverance move the world; thinking that others will do it for you is a sure way to fail. Guest guest
You could make popsicles out of fruit juice. I buy them that way, but they're only for me. Marilyn Treuil wrote: Help! Guest guest
Leftovers!! Any leftover can make a good snack. I make a split pea or lentil soup so thick you can eat it as a dip with pita bread chunks or corn chips. Popcorn is also popular in our family, or apples with peanut butter. It all depends on which are your favorite foods in general, I think. Kris --- Marilyn Treuil <marilynt wrote: > Help! I need healthy snacks that I can cook/mix. Guest guest
Kids like to make these. (at least mine does!) Whole Wheat Soft Pretzels 1 cup white flour 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 Tbsp. cooking oil 1 Tbsp. (1 pkt.) active dry yeast 3/4 cup lukewarm apple juice or cider 1 egg, well beaten Coarse salt (optional) Combine 1/2 cup of each of the flours with oil, yeast, & juice. Beat with mixer for 3 minutes. Ad remaining flour, mix well and knead for 10 minutes. Divide dough into 12-15 equal parts. Roll pieces of dough into long snakes and shape as desired. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Allow to rise in warm place for 30-40 minutes. Preheat oven to 450. Brush pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt if desired. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly brown. Makes 12-15 pretzels.
Guest guest
Another great idea instead of sprinkling salt on the pretzles is to sprinkle sesame seeds instead. it tastes great and give you a tiny little bit of protein and calcium.
