Guest guest
<<<Is this recipe book still in print?>>> Shara, I did a search at Amazon.com and the actual title of the book is "Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure : Two-Hour Taste in Ten Minutes" by Lorna J. Sass. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0688123260/qid=1022169232/sr=2-1/104-0084754-4855977 I got the recipe from an email loop and don't actually have the book (hmmmm...maybe I could use a new cookbook <G>), but I love this soup SO much and love how quick and easy it is to make that I would guess this would be an awesome cookbook to own. Do you have any favorite pressure cooker recipes to share? I am just now getting more creative with my pressure cooker and would love to try some new recipes too. Guest guest
I am not overly creative with my pressure cooker either...lol. That is why I was trying to find out about the cookbook. I do quick tomato sauces, almost any kind of fresh vegetable, and things like that. I think my favorite one pot meal is when I put in cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and sometimes onions. All in fairly large peices and cook. This with a great corn bread is delicious. Of course, I do plenty of soups. I'll check out the cookbook and see how it looks. I could use some vareity. Thanks, Shara - Nita Crabb Tuesday, May 21, 2002 8:34 AM Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure <<<Is this recipe book still in print?>>> Shara, I did a search at Amazon.com and the actual title of the book is "Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure : Two-Hour Taste in Ten Minutes" by Lorna J. It is an awesome cookbook to own. I have it. Lots of terrific recipes and instructions for pressure cooking every grain and bean imaginable. I recommend it VERY highly. Lorna really knows pressure cooking, AND she writes great recipes. > >Do you have any favorite pressure cooker recipes to share? I am just now >getting more creative with my pressure cooker and would love to try some >new recipes too. I have a pressure cooker list. It's not very active, but you'd be welcome to join. Another gal was the list owner and she had to give it up due to illness in her family, so I said I'd take it over. I keep hoping that it will get more active. It's not an exclusively vegetarian list, but vegetarian recipes/discussion are certainly welcome. If you want to join, it's at: http://www.pccooking or send an email to: pccooking- You might also enjoy this website: http://www.missvickie.com Miss Vickie is selling booklets of pressure cooker recipes for $3.50, but she also has a lot of free recipes and useful info that's free. Guest guest
Lorna Sass has written at least these three; I have them (lucky me): 1. Lorna Sass' Complete Vegetarian Kitchen 2. Cooking Under Pressure 3. Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure The Complete Vegetarian Kitchen is a wonderful book you might want to take a look at. It features a variety of meal plans, and techniques; pressure cooking, wok work, steaming. Vegetarian Times calls it " One of the best Vegan cookbooks of all. " I certainly agree. The Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure book features selections from many cultures. Magnificently created in pressure cookery. Headings from chapters read: Introduction, Pressure Cooking Perfected, The Pressured Cook's Pantry, Menus for meals in minutes, Soups, Vegetables, Grains, Beans, Pickles Chutney and Sauces, Desserts, and the Appendix. Lornas' Sun-Dried Tomato Chutney is a staple of my " homemade " spagetti sauce. A dollop of it in my simmering sauce brings a subtle complexity to the sauce that " surprises " the palette. It's also a nice gift in a jar presented with some fresh bagels and tofu cream cheese. Robin
