Guest guest
Can anyone share a recipe using strawberries? maybe a drink or a desert or anything fun that you can do with strawberries! I have been picking mine here and there from my backyard and i have about 50 in the freezer. I would appreciate it immensely if anyone had any suggestions. :>) -Tim hometown.aol.com/Bodhimind8 Tim's Links
Guest guest
OK, how about a good smoothie? We freeze the strawberries in freezer bags just for these. I use 4 or 5 frozen berries 2 or 3 icecubes a couple tablespoons of protein powder (we us Shaklee Energizing Soy in the Vanilla) honey to taste and about a cup of your choice of "milk" product. Throw it all in a blender and enjoy. You can sort of play with the amounts to suit your tastes. My kids can make these and enjoy them for breakfast many times. We also sometimes throw in a frozen banana. Robin
Guest guest
Here's a recipe I got from the Allrecipes.com site. I've made it several times and it's always a hit. It's very yummy. Strawberry Spinach SaladPrep Time: approx. 10 Minutes. Ready in: approx. 1 Hour 10 Minutes. Makes 4 servings. Printed from Allrecipes, 2 tablespoons sesame seeds1 tablespoon poppy seeds1/2 cup white sugar1/2 cup olive oil1/4 cup distilled white vinegar1/4 teaspoon paprika1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon minced onion10 ounces fresh spinach - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces1 quart strawberries - cleaned, hulled and sliced1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered Directions In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onion. Cover, and chill for one hour. In a large bowl, combine the spinach, strawberries and almonds. Pour dressing over salad, and toss. Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Guest guest
Hi Tim, The little, light text makes it very hard for these old eyes to read your posts. I posted a salad awhile back, similar to the one just posted. Put " Strawberry Salad " in the search engine and it will come up. The other thing I do with strawberries is put some in the blender, cover with soy milk and whirr. Sometimes I put strawberry flavored soy powder in these shakes. Yummy and quick! And definitely freeze the berries for year round use..... in fact, if you've got extra, I'll take 'em! LOL!
