Guest guest
I would like to know if my posting 1 e-mail with several recipes are bothering any one else but the very few who have stated concerns? If the majority of this group is offended by my cutting and pasting recipes, then I will stop. I will not be affected by 2 or 3 who have stated. Seems I have received more please keep them coming then 2-3 stop doing it. There was just one thank you for the various Jasmine rice recipes. It's too bad that people must be so rude to get a point across. I recognize that spirit and am not affected by it. If you wouldn't mind. Please tell me other than the 2 or 3 that have responded. I love researching request and giving a variety, but, if this is offensive I will stop. Thank you, Blessings in your day!!!

I tend to sort recipes into categories--when there's a soup, a side and a main dish (or whatever) in one email, I get a bit grumpy. But I can deal, either way. Guest guest
I prefer recipes in separate emails. I only save the ones I plan to try so when they are separate I don't have to save long messages (that also fill the allotted space in my mail account). I also prefer recipes that have been personally tried and recommended. My $.02 worth. Guest guest
That's my preference as well....a single recipe per email, and ones that have been " taste-tested " by the poster, along with comments. However, I'm quite capable of using my delete key. I read using the web interface, and just download the recipes that are of interest to me to get around this problem. It works quite well. -- Sherri Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before. , Kris <kristc99> wrote: > I prefer recipes in separate emails. Guest guest
To get around the problem of multiple recipes in one post, I forward the message to myself, deleting all but the one I’m interested in. I also change the title if necessary to something a little more specific. For instance, the long list of Jasmine rice recipes came about 3 days after I bought a 20# bag of Jasmine rice! :-) I forwarded it to myself once titled “Jasmine Rice Salad w/ Vinaigrette” and once titled “Jasmine Rice w/ Herbs.” Now I’ve received 2 single-topic emails, which I then moved to a “Food” folder within my mailbox. Thanks to everyone who posts =polite= comments and takes the time to post wonderful recipes. FWIW, I like the personal notes in those tried-n-true favorite recipes. I’ll try to be a more active forum participant and share a few of ours soon. Guest guest
Yep, I agree with the rest. One recipe per email, with the title of the recipe in the " subject " line, is more efficient and organized for me. I can then delete any recipe that I think I wouldn't like according to the " subject " header. Let's say that I dislike okra, well any subject that has okra in it will be deleted. Nothing is hidden. > " Liz Buchanan " <lizbuchanan > > >RE: General >Sun, 8 Sep 2002 17:16:36 -0500 > >To get around the problem of multiple recipes in one post, I forward the >message to myself, deleting all but the one I'm interested in. Guest guest
I joined the list to find vegetarian recipes that were quick to prepare. Friendship, companionship, and personal notes on specific ingredients are a bonus when available. While I joined this group specifically to get recipes, I have found that groups that don't share anything besides facts, recipes, or other resource-oriented material, don't tend to last very long (or at least with the same group of people.) People get board or look for groups that foster a sense of belonging to something. I think a mix is healthy for a group but find that the ratio depends on the groups purpose. I thought this group was doing fine with about 90-95% recipes and occasionally some conversation to make people feel connected. I prefer one recipe per posting just because it makes it easier for me to file but can cope with more than one if one of the recipes seems worth the effort. Guest guest
As with the rest of the groups population, I think one/two recipes per email for filing purposes is good. But as this is a vegetarian list, I do prefer recipes that have already been converted to vegetarian friendly substitutions. I know sometimes it is an oversight, but for recipes posted with meat products/broths, with the assumption that we can do our own substitutions is bothersome when it is done consistently. Guest guest
I to prefer one or two recipes to an email but can live with it either way. There are many alternative groups for those that do not find this group to suite their needs. I myself started a vegetarian group a few months ago and have had ten member join, but not more then 3-4 post a month since I started it I would rather have posts on my list then no posts. And yes, as Gennie said people should not fight, and stated that because of 9/11, well 9/11 changed a few people for a short time unfortunatly things like 9/11 do not have short term affects. I beleive that life is to short to argue if something does not please me then I know how to leave a group and have done so in the past. So ladyvelvet you can conti ue to post your recipes if you like it dosen't bother me and if it does I can always hit delete. Guest guest
personally, i thought your posting of multiple recipes was within the spirit of this group, " quick " & " vegetarian " ... if you saw fit to make them shorter via less recipes per msg, added notes on the ones you'd tried (w/ what you substituted for meat ingredients) vs. found and thought were interesting yet hadn't tried yet - so much the better - though not necessary... i actually think you did the group a service by purging " the stewarts " and others like him/her, and agree w/ liz' corrective post too... most " true " vegetarians i know have a certain degree of tolerance and maturity inherent in their spirit and expressed outwordly via their chose of eating habits but also via the way they treat others... --- ladyvelvet_1 <ladyvelvet_1 wrote: > I would like to know if my posting 1 e-mail with > several recipes are > bothering any one else but the very few who have > stated concerns? > > If the majority of this group is offended by my > cutting and pasting > recipes, then I will stop. Guest guest
Hi All, I've been out of town for awhile and missed the disagreement. I don't have a clue what's going on or why everyone is arguing? I love this list as it is. The variety of personalities and postings is wonderful. It's great to know that there are so many different people out there. And being someone who has very little knowledge about cooking and how to be a healthy vegetarian, the added info to some posts is really helpful. I also don't mind at all when someone just cuts and pastes a recipe. Everyone has their own uniqueness and it comes through on this listserv. Again, I don't have a clue what's going on because I missed the original discussion, nor do I want to know what's going on, I just wanted to add my two cents and say no one will learn anything by arguing and by adding rules that limit individualism.
