Guest guest
I know I'm new here, but if I may, I've a suggestion for the recipes. I'm the list owner of a couple of unrelated lists and we utilize the " FILES " section, to the left of the screen a lot. For instance, we could, under the FILES section create FOLDERS which are headed: Main Dishes Side Dishes One Dish Meals Desserts Vegen Only etc., Then, the folks on this list could also upload their favorite recipe in another folder called " Tried & True " or some such..... They would be handy and sort of like a " recipe box " , right at our fingertips. Members would only have to log into the site via to get to the Quick Vegetarian Recipe Files and look up a recipe by the name rather than weed through archives or cutting & pasting (unless they just want to). Like I said, it's just a suggestion, but I'd be willing to start with a first recipe (wink, wink)....... (I don't know who the list owner is here, hence my public suggestion....I don't mean to offend.) Storm

I am one of those folks who is more used to clubs and had to adjust a bit during the group's switch over. I know there are many features and options I havent fully utilised in my groups; and I don't own this list. This suggestion might be a excellent way to organise things a bit. Folks could still post them on the regular board, but yet add them to the list, (or a list moderator could) and then they would be filed and easy to find. Nice! BTW, welcome to the group, Storm. What type of vegetarian are you? I am lacto-ovo myself; but I enjoy many vegan recipes. *coffeemug salute* ~ P_T ~ / The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough. --Rabindranath Tagore
Guest guest
Thank you PT (my favorite scent, btw). I'm lacto-ovo as well & hesitate in saying this but I read somewhere that I'm a " Pesco Vegetarian " . I will eat some fish, but not all, by any means. I, too, enjoy vegan recipes. My whole life, I'd look down at my plate and see the meat portion as the smallest and least enjoyed on there. I think I only put meat on the plate because it was the accepted thing to do. I've always been an animal advocate in my heart, if not in action, so I " put down the knife " so to speak about 5-6 years ago. I'm currently doing some tentative research in removing eggs & milk products from my diet as well, but I've not quite made the jump yet. By way of introducing myself further to the group, I also Rescue Dogs. I concentrate on one breed, the Miniature Pinscher and have been involved in doing that for the last 4 years. I met my DH endeavoring to place a dog in a good home and we have been married for 3 years in November. He is a meat eater (sigh), but we all can't be perfect, eh? (vbg) My other great love is Dog Agility, in which I compete, here in the southeast. I am trying to put a Championship Title on my one MinPin, Giselle & compete with my other MinPin, Maxi-Pup. Our other boy, Brutus, is slightly handicapped and therefore cannot compete. I teach dog/handler teams to do agility once per week and hold down a full time job as an office manager on the weekdays (hence my organizational suggestion). My hubby & I love to camp (pop-up) & ride motorcycles (Honda Goldwing), which is how I got my nickname. On his helmet is written " The Calm " and on my helmet is " The Storm " ...everyone knows the Calm comes before the Storm and I ride on the motorcycle behind him........ Anyway, way more than anyone wanted to know, I'm sure. Looking forward to making some friends & getting come decent recipes.... I have never heard of " pesco-veggies " ; learn something new every day. *s* > > My whole life, I'd look down at my plate and see the meat portion as > the smallest and least enjoyed on there. I remember as a little kid sitting there and handing off pieces of steak to the dog under the table b/c I hated it so much. *lol* Finally when I turned 15 and learned a thing or two about different types of vegetarianism, I told my parents that I wanted to be one. They were a bit perplexed, but I eased into it by only cutting out red meat, and then gradually got rid of all. I am in no hurry to quit my cheese and eggs, and I love honey; so I am of the mind those bees are having fun and make a bit extra for us. ;-) I think it is great you help dogs. I have a jack russell terrier named Riley. He and I love going for walk-runs and playing soccer as we go; he is really good. I have taught him a few tricks and he loves jumping through my hula-hoop. * s* My husband and two children aren't vegetarians either. I don't push anyone into my lifestyle. I figure when they want to or if they do, they can decide for themselves. They seem to like most everything I fix though, but occassionally they make a meat dish to go with it. Camping is a blast. We went quite bit this summer. We rough it in a tent. Those air matresses make very bearable. *lol* Nice to meet ya, Storm. Namaste. ~ P_T ~ / What we think, we become. --Buddha

Guest guest
It looks like anyone can add folders and files. I just made a folder called " main dishes " to see if it would work. Try and see if you can add a file to it. Good thing if it works. There hasn't been a moderator here for a long time. Guest guest
Great ideas! I had visions of us having problems finding things, so I went in and added a bunch of files -- and sub-files, so we can find our way around easily (I hope). Feel free to add more or to holler at me. <G> If you already put a recipe in and you'd like to move it to a sub- folder, just call your recipe up, select ALL, copy, close your recipe, look to the right and hit DELETE (this will destroy your original file), then open the folder you want, select CREATE A NEW TEXT FILE, and paste your recipe to it. It just takes a minute to move these things around (no need to re-type!), so I hope I didn't upset anyone. Melinda

Guest guest
Thanks! I'm a list owner of another list (a parrot training list), so I'm used to beebopping around in 's Files section. Folks, please go check it out. Chili is under Main Dishes, btw. The main categories are: Appetizers and Snacks Breads and Rolls Breakfast and Brunch Dessert Ethnic Cuisine Holiday Cooking Main Dishes Miscellaneous Salads Sauces and Gravies Side Dishes Soups Each file contains sub-files. For instance, the Miscellaneous category contains: Baby Foods Beauty Products Bird Food & Treats Camping Canning & Preserving Cat Food & Treats Copycat Recipes Crafts Diabetic Dog Food & Treats Gift Ideas Gluten Free Recipes for Large Crowds Soaps & Cleaners I tried to do a thorough job, but it was late at night. If you think of other files that should be added, help yourself. So now we have a bunch of (mostly) empty files. Have fun filling them up, folks! If everyone adds a few of their favorite recipes, pretty soon we'll have a really great collection. This was a great idea, and I'm glad you folks thought of it. Thank you You're very welcome. I wish I had too, and I'm sorry if you're inconvenienced. Would you like me to move your files for you? I'd be happy to do that if you need me to, but if I do they will reflect my name, not yours, is the only bad thing... and I think you deserve credit for what you've done. I think everyone who puts in an original recipe should sign it at the bottom, btw, don't you? Melinda
