Recipe organizer software?....and a hummus recipe.

Hi all. Boy oh boy, I have an e-mail box full of recipes. I need to

download some software so I can empty my box. I need the organizer to be

" freeware " (unlimited use for free of charge). It sure would be nice if it

were user-friendly as well. Any ideas out there? Also, any advice on how

to transfer the nearly 200 recipes, or is it just a matter of cut and paste?

Thanks for any help.

Here is recipe for Hummus, which I have been munching on the last few days.

Taste great on tostada chips. Note, I do not add the parsley or pimiento to

my hummus, but I wanted to post the original recipe for those who would like

it. Good protein content recipe.

1 15-ounce can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained

1/4 cup tahini

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, quartered

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon paprika

1/2 cup snipped parsley

1 2-ounce jar diced pimiento, drained (1/4 cup)

In a food processor bowl or blender container combine beans, tahini, lemon

juice, oil, garlic, salt, and paprika. Cover and process or blend till

smooth, stopping and scraping sides as necessary. Transfer to a bowl. Stir

in parsley and pimiento. Cover and chill 2 to 24 hours.

Hi MX -- no software ideas here, but I've been cutting and pasting

from the files on this list for a few days now. Have you looked in

the FILES section for this list? I've put about a kazillion and a

half recipes in there. 940 Kb of text files, to be exact.

Maybe that will make you happy and you won't feel the need to store

the recipes on your own computer privately, as I've already done the

work for you. I wanted the same thing you do, and I figured

could store the recipes so I wouldn't need to do it on

my hard drive... and this way we all can enjoy.

You need to be a member of to see the files.

The addy is:

You might want to take a look there before you go to all that work.

I use one called " Recipe Box " but the totally usable shareware version of it

is not still available. I do have the download and would be happy to email

it to you if you want. It is pretty user friendly.

Yeah ... wait for my Lady (who is a programmer) to finish writing my recipe

programme *laugh*. One of its features will be that it grabs recipes out of

email and files them. BTW, if anyone has any ideas that should be

incorporated into such a programme (which will be released as shareware when

it is ... if it is ... finally completed), I would be really interested.

Oh, btw, I am a newcomer to the list ... hi all!

Hi Lee-Gwen, welcome to the group. I would definitely like to get the url

for " Recipe Box " . Can you also by any chance spare someone to tediously

transfer these dang recipes into the program, LOL. Thanks again.

To all: I have noticed that several messages including my own are at

but not in my email box. Many emails were sent and received a

day ago. Right now there are about 15 sitting over there, and today I have

received about 4 from the group sporatically. Am I doing anything wrong?

Hi Melinda, trust me your work is appreciated here, thanks. The group alone

is great, but having it so nicely organized and making it so much fun is

even better.

I belong to several other groups as well. So I receive recipe emails from

several groups. Then I trim the fat, keeping the ones that look good or

that I am interested in trying and deleting the rest. I prefer to keep them

on my hardrive. Therefore I wont have to get online and go through

thousands of recipes, just a couple hundred in my program.

It's still great to have them online, because I wasnt appart of this group

the day you opened it, so I probably havent seen one-thousandth of the

recipes. Your group is great! I enjoy the fact that you reply to many

people and stay actively involved. Cheers :) MX

Hi MX,

Thanks for the kudos. :) Just one correction; this isn't my

group. A little sleuthing tells me it was apparently started by a

lady named Bethany Jordan, who posted lots of recipes. She either

changed her handle and went underground, or she hasn't posted in

about a year and a half from what I can tell. Bethany, are you out

there?

Thanks, Shawn, just trying to help everyone here out. :)

The way I set them up, everyone can go contribute to the files, and

I hope they will!
