Guest guest
Folks, I thought I'd mention this since I don't have a lot of time to find recipes due to my crazy schedule, I'm on several recipe notice lists. I just got one for the holiday cooking helps from Cooking Light. They have a word play for the Thanksgiving Veggie Menu called "A Feast with No Beast." I've found that they have a lot of vegetarian recipes and meat ones that could be easily changed to veggie or vegan. Here is a link that they sent today for Meatless Thanksgiving Menu Marinated Lentil Salad Mushroom and Caramelized-Shallot Strudel Sweet Potato and Apple Gratin Creamy Mashed Potatoes with Chives Cranberry, Pear, and Ginger Relish Herb and Onion Wheat Biscuits http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking/mp/vegetarian/package/0,14343,357747,00.html (If the link breaks in two pieces copy and paste both pieces together or just go to the main page at the www.cookinglight.com They also have a recipe search find feature. I wish I had hours to look around these sites seems as if they have some wonderful recipes. Anyway, I hope this helps. I was looking for good recipes for the yams that someone gave me and I want to try their sweet potato a gratin recipe. BTW: Does anyone have no bake sweet potato recipe that they like? Hi, Yes, and no. I was also interested in a recipe I'd heard about for sweet potato pie that you could cook on the stove top and then drop into an (I know, terrible) already made pie crust. Our oven went kaput and I'm not sure it will be fixed by Thanksgiving. Terrible timing for it! Looks very promising. *s* As far as sweet potato recipe that doesn't get baked, I like to slice them thin and dip them in tempura batter and fry them; serve with tempura dipping sauce. This probably isn't what you had in mind though, but it is yummy. Guest guest
I just steam the sweet potatoes, peel and eat them with some lemon and cinnamon. You can also mash them into soup of course, but I think they would need something spicy like curry powder to balance all the sweetness. BTW, this is off topic, but I also cut the lower half of a sweet potato and put it in a jar of water (with toothpicks to keep it stable on the rim, it grew roots and quite lovely foliage.
