When somebody tried to spam my own group, I immediately d him, period. Here the owner appears to have left without leaving anyone in her place, so we are left defenceless against this kind of attack. It can only get worse in the future, once spammers get to know they can go on undisturbed.... If Melinda and others hadn't done such a wonderful and painstaking job of uploading all those tons of recipes in the files, I'd suggest we all move elsewhere, creating a new group, identical to this one, with someone being its owner. You know, somebody (whoever is interested, one of the people most active here) create a new group, call it " Quick vegetarian -new " , invite all of us or just send this group a message with the URL, then we'd all from here and there. It would be very easy, only take minutes to do the change, and it would finally have an owner. But what to do with the files? I'm not aware of any method of PAINLESSLY moving them from one group to the other and it wouldn't be fair to ask the same person who almost ruined her health in order to create them, to do this other job too. Perhaps we could all take turns to share the task, though, each one of us agreeing to copy one specific folder to the new group files. But if the idea interesting to you, I can submit the question of the best way of copying existing files to the ListHelp group, of which I'm a r too. They are a bunch of really expert and helpful people, many of them the owners of many large groups, and if there is a way, they will surely know it. Guest guest
Is it possible to simply take over "ownership" of the current group? that way no moving would be neccesary. -dawn Irene Maradei <shantima wrote: "Jeanne C. Guest guest
not unless the owner gives pemission or moderator status & themselves steps down. I had the same issue when I was just merely transferring ownership of some of my groups to my new emails from emails i had that no longer exhisted. Guest guest
Hi, At the bottom of most (all?) pages are links to relevant information: (Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Guidelines, Help). If you click on Guidelines you will find another link (near the bottom) that can be used to report unacceptable postings. I think is pretty good about removing these people from their pages--- they don't like this stuff as much as you don't like this stuff. I reported the offensive posting several days ago, so it will be interesting to see if it gets reposted. It is probably worth it for several people to report unwanted posts. Just imagine what would happen if anyone could take ownership from the owners without their consent!!! Believe me. I've been reading about problems like that for months at the ListHelp list and what I told you is the only way.
