Guest guest
I wrote to the owner of this group over a week ago and haven't gotten a response. I just tried another email address I had for her, but it bounced. The lack of response could be due to the holiday season, but I think we might want to seriously consider moving the list. If we hear from her any time soon, we could always delete the new list. Note of warning: New lists on do not have as much archive space as this one. We have 512MB, new ones have 32MB. But I've been given the impression that when unveils its new pricing scheme all lists will have the same amount of space. And if one of us running the list, we'd at least have the option of paying for more space. We can't do it without the owner's permission. Irene? Do you want to run the new list? Or is there someone else who would like to do it? I'd be willing to help as a moderator, but I'd rather not run the list as I have my own to take care of. But I'll do it if no one else wants to as long as there are people who are willing to help me moderate it. Well, so far no one has stepped forward unless you count Recipe Goddess's suggestion that we merge with her group. While it seems like a nice idea, I was really hoping to just be able to recreate the feel of this group but without the spam. We haven't had much spam lately, but if it starts up again I'll create a group and see if y'all will actually switch over. In time maybe I can hand over the responsibilities to someone else. > The thing is who will volunteer to put in the work for moving the > files. In > this I could certainly help. I was actually referring to the space for messages. Guest guest
Hi. I have hesitated to chime in on this. Actually I have sent several emails to this list's owner. Thus far I have gotten no reply back from them, and frankly I doubt I ever will. Back in September of 2002 I started another vegetarian list b/c I was asked to by several members here who weren't happy with the spam, and the flames from folks who didn't want chit-chat and only recipes. Thus far we have 140 members and are growing. It is a very active group with a lot of discussion and good recipes mixed in. I am an active owner, meaning I don't tolerate spam and I am diligent to update the recipe files section. There is no way to manage this group as it is set up now. It has too large a membership and unless the owner comes forth and allows one of us to take over, we cannot access the memberlist. The only way I have seen to do it thus far is to receive this in digest form and then use the emails listed and invite the people who post to join my list. If they choose to join us, fine. If not, then they will have to endure the spam along with the rest of us who still remain. *lol* I plan to stick around here and just ignore the bad junk, email the owner when it happens (and hope they notice), and keep my other list active incase anyone here is looking for another place to join. Every list has a unique flavor (pardon the pun). I love all the lists I am a member of, and never wish to take away from them, but to add to them. Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the topic. I appreciate all of you who have sent emails to this list's owner along with me. Maybe together we can become the squeaky wheel. *lol* Namaste ~ P_T ~ Uttering a word is like striking a note on the keyboard of the imagination. -Ludwig Wittgenstein, philosopher (1889-1951) Mail Plus - Powerful.
