Guest guest
Hey, are those Egg Beater things vegan? My mom said she doesn't think they're made with real eggs, since they're an egg substitute, but I just want to make sure. If anyone could answer this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! :-) Peace Up, ***Sara*** " Fur used to turn heads, now it turns stomachs. " ~Rue McClanahan
Guest guest
I know the morningstar brand are not vegan. They are basically egg whites with coloring added to make them " look " yellow like egg yolks. Those are the only ones that I've had any experience with. If your looking for an egg " alternative " for baking, I've heard alot of really good things about the En-r-g egg replacer powder. HTH, Michelle Hey, are those Egg Beater things vegan? Guest guest
Linda that Fastastic Egg scramber is the best. Why do people buy the Egg Beaters anyway? If it's just colored egg whites they could just do the same thing at home with a dozen cage free eggs. I don't get it. There are plenty of things to replace eggs with right down to scrambled eggs...firm tofu, crumbled, add package of Fantastic Egg scrambler mix...can't remember the name for sure, but it is very good. And gives the tofu a yellow color. You can replace eggs in recipes, baking, with a variety of things. > linda > " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Guest guest
It is easier to just buy it in a container than to have to crack all of those eggs and most people are doing it to get away from the cholesterol and cholesterol is only found in the yolk of the egg. I don't do eggs since even the cage free egg comes from hens that are abused in the confinement/farm factory situation anyway. They are raised in sheds with a small opening for thousands of birds who rarely find that opening due to the crowding. This is true even of the organic cage free eggs. So, the buying of cage free eggs is only a small step in the ending of the abuses of the chickens. If one absolutely needs their eggs find a farmer that has a few chickens that will sell some to you. Eggs are easily replaced in all recipes. Now with the Avian flu scare even those that get out will probably be confined now under the excuse of their being exposed to the wild birds flying overhead dropping their dung upon the ground. All of this confinement has been under the biosecurity excuse anyway and the flu threat is perfect for that excuse...just remember those chickens have been confined long before the flu scare. Oh, I have friends that raise chickens in their back yards and eat those eggs. My city says you can raise 2 chickens in your backyard in the city limits. Hopefully you don't get a rooster. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Definitely try the " Tofu Scramble " under " breakfast " in the recipe files - I love it!

Gayle Hi Gayle, Yeah, someone I think said they take egg whites and just color them yellow? And it's OK if the answer was already put up, your answer is appreciated anyway! ;-) Peace Up, ***Sara*** " Fur used to turn heads, now it turns stomachs.
