Guest guest
Hi Everyone I am Sarah, from the UK. I am not acutally vegan as such but I am gluten free, milk free, egg free, corn and rice free and I do not tolerate animal products or soya very well. I am at present undergoing tests to see if I am celiac. I mostly eat fruit and veg and a little chicken and fish now and then. I am hoping to gain some more ideas from you all for new recipes. I am following a specific carbohydrate diet at the moment to try and heal my gut. It seems to be working as I am feeling better on it. I therefore do not eat any sugars, only honey. Guest guest
Hello, everyone, We also live in the UK, north yorkshire. My daughter kira is 10 months old today and she is dairy free and wheat free. At the moment she is eating veg & chicken and lots of fruit. We have just tried a few cornflakes but was not keen. She has been on soya milk since she was 8 weeks old. We get bread and biscuits on prescription. Since been on the diet she has changed so much. She is much more alert and her stomach has stopped going into spasms. She has normal bowel movements before she was either totally constipated or had nothing but the runs & lots of mucus, also she has far less wind. We have just seen a dietician who has told us what she can & cannot eat so we are going to try and start experimenting, ( but at the moment she won't eat lumps). Any way have a good day all norma
Guest guest
WOW Sarah, Welcome to our group. We are so very happy to have you here. I hope we can help. That is a really strict diet to be on. I would be intrested in what you do eat. My Daughter has a lot of gut problems as well, and we are having a hard time clearing them up. I would be very interested in what you are doing and what your problems are. So I could have so ideas if they were similar to my Daughters or not. Guest guest
Hi there everyone. I would love to post some recipes, but don't really have any beyond basic stuff, which is why I'm here. Though my son and I are not totally vegetarian, I'm about to embark on an extremely restrictive diet for him, because of neurological needs, no dairy, no wheat, no gluten period, no artificial foods, no flour of any sort (for a while, after a few months, bean flours might be ok), and restrictive on fruit and some veggies. As you can see, this doesn't leave much so I don't want to take out any other food unless I absolutely have to. I'll be leaving in a few eggs and some fish (and maybe free-range chicken.) I'm checking out vegan sites, though, because vegetarian recipes seem to mostly replace the meat with loads of dairy products and gluten heavy grains. I'm looking forward to reading recipes and meal suggestions from everyone, especially on how to make kid-friendly food from these foods (my son's favorite foods are pizza, onion rings, noodles and salami sandwiches, sigh, this is not going to be easy!), and how to deal with school lunches and the temptation to trade with the other kids (eating dairy foods and processed foods, especially causes a severe behavioral reaction, and it's vital that he not eat any of these things at school where he will get punished for a food reaction.) Thanks! Allison - Amy Lovelace Saturday, August 18, 2001 1:57 PM Members I just want to say that we are up to 55 members now. That is wonderful. I want to welcome the three newest ones. I would really like to see some recipes posted, who wants to start?? Amy
Guest guest
Hello! I am one of the new members to the group. We are vegans or even meat-free for that matter. However, my son has multiple, severe food allergies which strictly limit our diet. Actually, simple, plain meat dishes are easy to fix and find recipes for. It is everything else that I stuggle with. So, I thought that a vegan and gluten-free group might have a lot of good ideas. My son's allergies (he's only 18 months, so these are the ones we are aware of and that he has tested positive for) are wheat, egg, dairy, tomato, sesame, sunflower, peanuts, all tree nuts (except pecans, but the risk of contamination is too great to chance it), and fish. The allergy to fish is life-threatening and he reacts badly if he even touches something that has touched fish. I will appreciate any recipes and will be glad to share as I continue to develop good ones. As everyone who is wheat-free (or gluten-free) always is, I am in search of bread that we might actually want to eat. I would love to hear what others use. I will also try to look in the archives. anita... > - > Amy Lovelace > > Saturday, August 18, 2001 1:57 PM > Members > > > I just want to say that we are up to 55 members now. That is > wonderful. Guest guest
Mar is a new member and not fully vegetarian. I did post a message in here to her staring this is a vegetarian group and we only accept vegetarian recipes. OK moving right along here..................Smiles, Donna Maidawg <maidawg wrote: Did I miss something? I know I'm fairly new to this list, but aren't the recipes supposed to at least be vegetarian? " First of all, you don't need to consume animal flesh to fulfill your protein needs. There is sufficient protein in beans and legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, dark greens and sprouts, but if you are really paranoid about this (in a world where we get more protein than is healthy for us) try some of the many substitutes.
