Guest guest
I make a big batch of this and keep a large salt shaker for myself. Since my friends love it so much, I give them a jar for Christmas with an empty salt shaker and place both in a small basket or inside a decorative bag and tie with a bow. This is the best seasoning to cook with. Top on rice, sprinkle over veggies, add to your main and side dishes, etc. They thank me all year. " Magic Dust " 1/4 cup paprika 1/4 cup salt (finely ground sea or kosher) 2 tblpsns. dry mustard 1/4 chili powder 1/4 cup ground cumin 2 tblspns. ground black pepper 1/4 cup granulated garlic or scant 1/4 cup garlic powder 2 tblspns. cayenne 1/4 cup sugar Mix all ingredients together and store in a tightly covered container. Keeps indefinitely. If you like this hotter then up the black pepper, mustard and chili powder. The above measurements should be perfect for everyone's taste. Guest guest
When ever I do this sort of mixture and it is well blended I put it into a salt shaker and soon it is settling into different layers...not well mixed. I am going to get me a large jar of some sort with a shaker and lid so that I can shake it up each time I want to use it 'cause in the little shakers I have to put my hand over the holes, yuck, and then it never mixes thoroughly. I have a picture in my head of what I want but at a loss if they make such a critter. I do want to try what you have put in below so I best get my butt in gear and find it. There is also a seasoning called Thai seasoning by Spice Island (I might have the name reversed) but it is a major spice company and it is wonderful in soups and everything else. I recommend it if you like spices. I had a spice guy tell me once that the best time to buy spices is every six months as that is when they go on sale...now and then next June or so. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
