Can you help me PT, is this balsamic vinegar real different from the

clear regular vinegar? I never seen it but some of the recipes

posted say to use it. Is it from the same area as the regular

vinegar in the market?

Thank you,

Paul

I know you asked PT this, but...balsamic is much different than regular vinegar.

And it has sugar in it, but mainly it is the way it is manufactured with wine

vinegar and concentrated grape must. It is in the regular grocery store in the

section with other vinegars. Get one that is imported from Italy and don't go

cheap on it...it makes a difference if you are using it in a salad dressing. A

good one is worth the price. Get a small bottle to begin with to see if you like

it...some people don't. Get one from Modena, Italy, the main place for it's

production and it's produced in wooden casks. Spectrum Naturals puts one out

that is decent and not too expensive.

Hey Paul, I know I'm not PT; but, yes, balsamic is very different, in

taste and look. Balsamic vinegar is dark and has a lovely aroma and

flavor. The clear, regular vinegar is sharp smelling and pretty much

good for cleaning with (hahahaha just kidding).

Try this: buy a loaf of really good quality bread. Get a small bowl or

plate and pour some extra virgin olive oil in it, maybe a quarter cup.

Then slowly pour in a couple of tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. DON'T

mix it up, instead the vinegar will sit as a pool in the middle of the

oil. Slice or tear up your bread and dip so you get some of the

vinegar and some of the oil. It's divine!
