Guest guest
I just received the 2 Millennium cookbooks that I ordered. I am anxious to try some out, but overwhelmed by the amount of recipes in 2 cookbooks. Can anyone recommend any recipes in them that they have tried and really liked? Thanks, Patricia

Thanks, Patricia Patricia - enjoy those books! It will take years to get through them! :-) In any case, this is a list of the recipes with little post-its sticking out of the my copy of the book. They should get you started anyway! from The Millennium Cookbook The Moroccan Filo Crescents pictured on the front cover (you have to make several recipes and assemble, but they are totally worth it and can be done over several days if you like... you can also make a bunch and freeze them individually to pull out as needed.) They're on page 114. The Creamy Cucumber Mint soup on page 76 is delicious, and not what you might expect from a cucumber soup (the little cayenne kick really does it). The Mad Good Chocolate Cake on pg 193, with the accompanying Coconut Sorbet (pg 216) is awesome. Just pay attention to the time and don't overbake, or the middles won't be oozy... :-) The Blackberry sorbet on 216... have occasionally made it with chardonnay instead of water for the wine folks I know. Yum either way, and great with one of those thin flat crisp vanilla cookie (or a pizzelle), or a couple of amaretti, though I think the cookies would not be vegan unless you made 'em yourself. The apricot soup on pg 75 (ya gotta do the lemon-ginger ice! :-)). Golden Gazpacho with Avocado-Cilantro sorbet, pg 73. The vegetable grilling marinades, pgs 10-16. The plantain torte on pg 27 ... OMG I love this!!! I made it once in muffin cups by cutting the tortillas with a cookie cutter to fit... the bottom of the cup I used a flower shaped cutter and they looked so nice. Easier to serve too, than cutting the entire tortilla but DELICIOUS any way you make it... and just try convincing people that they're vegan. Onion Apple Soup w/apple, sesame & ginger relish, pg 62 If you have non-veg friends who like seafood bisque, try the chanterelle, oyster and lobster mushroom bisque on pg 68. It tasted too " seafood-y " to me, and it's all mushrooms! *lol* But DH and my choir director *loved* it. Yam & Sage Gnocchi wi/roasted tomato & garlic broth pg 88. Marinated fig, onion & black olive pizza pg 97. The wild mushroom, wild rice & root vegetable roulades are very impressive and non-veg folks didn't miss the meat at all when I made them. Pg 117. The madras baked tofu, pg 118. The chutney that goes with it is awesome too. The eggplant torte with smoked onion ratatouille (I used liquid smoke as I have no smoker) was yummmy... pg 130 The dijon-mustard lentil sauce on pg 180 is so good that once DH ate a bowlful thinking it was leftover soup! The pumpkin cake w/chocolate hazelnut ganache and cinnamon-coffee sauce on 194 is fantastic for the holidays! Cranberry Walnut Galettes on 207... (in the files under desserts/pie) ************* from " The Artful Vegan " .. I haven't this as long and have only made ac couple of things! pg 161 Smoked tempeh & eggplant muffaletta pg 159 Fauxlet au Poivre w/ Syrah Jus, chicory & smoked cherries, and roasted potatoes and roots was an awesome Easter meal
Guest guest
> I've never heard of these cookbooks, Patricia. Who are they published > by? Where did you get 'em? If they have lots of recipes...I sure would > like to see 'em. :>) Bron, they're put out by the restaurant DH & I went to at Thanksgiving (Millennium in San Francisco). One is called " The Millennium Cookbook " and the other is called " The Artful Vegan " . Both are jam-packed with fancy, exceedingly delicious vegan food fit for any party you could possibly imagine, but many are involved recipes (ie some recipes ask you to make one or two others first). However, many of them can be adapted to be easier as well. Both are available on Amazon or other bookstores; the main author is Eric Tucker. They are published by 10 Speed Press. *hugs* Amy

Guest guest
Thanks Amy. I use those little post-its to mark recipes also. I had trouble connecting to my internet server so spent an hour or so waiting for them to anser the phone (on hold) and then them having me try different things. Now I don't have time to go shopping for ingredients. Tomorrow I will try at least one . Thanks again, Patricia , " Amy " <sandpiperhiker> wrote: > > > I just received the 2 Millennium cookbooks that I ordered.
