Guest guest
After seeing all the chard recipes go by, I realize how dull and boring we have been doing chard. (steaming it). I love garlic; but never thought of putting garlic in with the chard. I am not an adventuresome cook; and this proves it! LOL Well, actually, I am not a cook at all. (sigh) In fact, truth be told, I hate to cook. But my health dictates that I eat better and that means learning to cook. You would think, at 54 years old; I would be able to cook. LOL In the past; my specialties were 1) out of the box 2) out of the can and 3) out of the freezer 4) out to dinner. What that boils down to is that if I couldn't dump it in a pan or stick it in the oven; I didn't cook it. That has left me not only unable to tell by looking at a recipe what it will taste like, but sadly lacking in the ability to look around and combine ingredients. Colleen PS I currently live in Windsor, Ontario which is directly across the river from Detroit, Michigan. I was born & grew up in the metro Detroit area (Dearborn - home of Henry Ford) and lived there up until 1999, when I moved to Canada. Guest guest
red chard gives broth a beautiful deep color when combined with a little soy sauce. It's a beautiful rich reddish deep color. hugs, Chanda - Dove vege Sunday, December 11, 2005 8:28 PM Cooking - the truth revealed & more about me After seeing all the chard recipes go by, I realize how dull and boring we have been doing chard. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, On the subject of learning to cook, it's never too late! Think of it as an adventure--which it truly is--and let this group inspire you to take off on this new trip. :>) Just try one of the chard recipes that appeals to you...then another of another veg/fruit/grain...and then...pretty soon, you'll be flyin'. Also, there are many frozen vegies/veg combos that will allow you to stay in your comfort zone with the four criteria you specified <g> until you feel confident to break out of the box with fresh vegies/grains as well. For another great group full of mouthwatering recipes and encouragement, I recommend , PT's group. Donna's group here and PT's group give me all the recipes I want, and lots of TNT advice, with affectionate encouragement and personal examples of how to perfect different techniques. And I've been cookin' since I was knee high to a grasshopper! So, we can all learn and profit and grow--together! It's great you wrote about your experience with cooking and your dislike/fear of it here. There will be many folks to help you change your perception, I am quite confident. :>) Hugs, Bron On 12/11/05, Dove <Dove wrote: > > After seeing all the chard recipes go by, I realize how dull and boring we > have been doing chard.
