Guest guest Posted December 12, 2005 Report Share Posted December 12, 2005 So...My ex boyfriend (who I am still VERY close with) left for Iraq yesterday. Know what his last meal request was? Chanda's Kale recipe, some pasta with a simple tomato basil sauce (i put mushrooms, zuccini, carrots, peas and spinach in mine and just mushrooms in his) and some garlic bread. He isn't even veg. He tried to abstain around me but the boy is carnivore hardcore...so it's odd he wanted my veg food!! Yesterday was a difficult day, but Saturday was worse because he was calling everyone and saying goodbye. This morning there was word of more injuries and I think a death of soldiers over there...very unsettling. I go between being fine and bawling my eyes out. It's a very strange feeling. Anyway. Guest guest Posted December 13, 2005 Report Share Posted December 13, 2005 --- Mel, praying for you--my hubby is in same position. we said good-bye a few months ago when he left to train but knew he would be home for Christmas so it wasn't too bad. however, after Christmas is will be VERY hard because he leaves for Iraq shortly after the holidays and we won't see him again until middle of 2007. check around where you live-- most places have a family/friends support group that have regular activites to help you deal with what's happening and do things that support the soldiers serving. it's taken us nearly 2 months to feel human here where the emotions aren't as volatile and settle into a routine. take care of yourself and give yourself some time--all your feelings are natural : ). take care and feel free to e-mail me off- list if you want to vent : ).
