Guest guest
I made this recipe from How It All Vegan's Mashed garlic potatoes with Kale this morning and OH MY! was it good. My comments in 3-4 Medium potatoes, roughly chopped [i used 5 red potatos] [i added chopped carrots to the potatos and boiled them together] 1 medium onion [yeah...i don't eat onion so i didn't add this] 4 garlic cloves, minced 2 tbsp. olive oil 2 cups Kale, chopped 1/2 cup soy milk 2 tbsp. flax oil 2 tbsp. Braggs [this seemed a bit much for me. I would lower it to 1 next time] pepper (to taste) [Opps. I was so hungry i forgot!] In a large pot of water, bolil the potatoes until they can be pierced easily with a fork. In a medium sauce pan saute the onions and garlic in the oil on medium heat until the onion becomes translucent. Add the kale and cover the pan with a lid. Lower heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until kale becomes soft. Set aside. When potatoes are ready, drain and place them in a large bowl. Mash together with milk, flax oil, Braggs and pepper. Stir in the kale mixture amd mix together well. Makes 4-6 servings [or one and a half for piggys like me!] YUM! ~Mel -- " Sweet songs the youth, the wise, the meaning of all wisdom...to believe in the good in man " --Legend
Guest guest
This sounds really good, too! Is this what you had for breakfast? I've been wanting to try kale and this sounds like a good start. Can you describe the taste of kale? Guest guest
I am really really bad at describing food! It's a green? It's actually kind of tough, and somewhat of a bitter taste raw and alone. I usually cook it with garlic and that makes it super yummy. (garlic does that to just about anything!) Yeah, I ate this as a breakfast, and also finished it for lunch --- Shelly <anislandgirl wrote: > This sounds really good, too! Guest guest
Thanks for the description. I think you did fine. The extent of my greens experience has been spinach, dandelion and collards. I thought the collards were way too tough and bitter for me to ever love them. Is kale like collards or not as tough and bitter? Does it soften when cooked? I had a mushroom reuben for breakfast so I have no problems with your choice! LOL Shelly , Melissa Hill <assilembob> wrote: > > I am really really bad at describing food! It's a > green?
