Guest guest
My friend owns a little new age type shop and several customers have been helping us put decorative bags and baskets together for Valentines Day to sell. They all suggested a little potluck theme for the weekend before. Since a few of us are trying to organize this and half of us are vegetarian, would it be rude to ask that any dishes brought be vegetarian friendly? Thanks for any tips or feedback, Isis What are the most popular cars? Find out at Autos

Guest guest
in a new age type shop, I'd think this would be a reasonable request. (meaning, I'd imagine those in attendance would be open minded... I could be wrong) Also, considering you've beeen putting these baskets together < I " d also imagine a friendly atmosphere, in which perhaps the fact that half of you are veg has come up.... I find it perfectly acceptable to say that since half of us are veg, please make all the dishes veg friendly, so that we might all be able to enjoy the potluck.... Happy Potluck, and good luck! =) jenni On Jan 24, 2006, at 11:31 AM, isis wrote: > My friend owns a little new age type shop and several customers > have been helping us put decorative bags and baskets together for > Valentines Day to sell. > They all suggested a little potluck theme for the weekend > before. Guest guest
-Isis, It might not be *rude8 Isis but why take the chance of making anyone feel uncomfortable . With at least half of you bringing Vegetarian dishes you will have pleanty of food to share. It will be a great opportunity to introduce some really fantastic dishes to your non- Vegetarian friends. Guest guest
Good idea Mike. I have never cared for pot lucks , instead I love to fix the meal myself. If someone asks " what can I bring? " I reply " yourself " . Some still insist(sigh) and often bring wine, flowers, bread or fancy chocolates. Now those are nice additions to any meal. Guest guest
I think it's fine to ask. If someone doesn't like the idea or finds it too difficult to do they could just as easily speak up. If you ask everyone, first, how they feel about the idea it gives them a chance to give their opinion. When James and I organize a potluck we always ask people to bring a non-meat dish and if someone speaks up that they'd rather not, then we make an exception for them. There is nothing rude in asking and goes quite well with the fact that it's revolved around a " new age " type shop.
