Guest guest
This will cover 16 biscuits so you might want to cut this recipe in half unless you will be serving for guests. My family has been enoying this for years. (TVP) Sausage Gravy on Biscuits 1 cup TVP granules 1 scant cup hot water 1 tablespoon tamari or low sodium soy sauce 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup canola oil or melted margarine 4 cups warm vegetable broth 2 teaspoons powdered sage 1 teaspoon marjoram 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper Stir together TVP, hot water and tamari, cover bowl and let sit. Meanwhile take a heavy skillet and toast the flour until you can smell the aroma but be careful not to scorch. Keep stirring the flour often as it toasts, takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Continue cooking as you stir in the oil or margarine until well blended. Slowly stir in ( whisking so no lumps form) , the warm broth, sage, marjoram, salt and pepper. Simmer gravy, when it bubbles stir in the TVP. To serve, split a hot biscuit and top with about 1/4 of the gravy. With a free 1 GB, there's more in store with Mail.
