Guest guest
I used to and still do cook lentils, drain them, and them stir in BBQ sauce. My kids love it! With canned kidney beans, I have memories of puttting two on the end of our forks, and them pretending they were shoes and we would have them run around the plate, before popping them in our mouthes. (We can be strange sometimes.) You can also mash/puree cooked split peas, stir in some soy-milk and season for soup. Hope this helps. --Tracy > Hi, I'm new to the group. Guest guest
Hi, My 15 month old son LOVES black beans and humus mixed together. Sometimes, I throw olive oil sauted kale into the mix for an extra boost. When Miles was working with limited teeth I would mash it together with a fork and he seemed to have no problems. Personally, I can't stomach it but Miles also likes kidney beans with a " chreeze " sauce. Hope this helps, Fran --- elmo07070 <wa.armacost wrote: > Hi, I'm new to the group. Guest guest
Wendy, My twin girls are 9 1/2 months and both have two bottom teeth. Our doc said that with or without teeth, by 9 months, they are pretty good at mashing up soft foods. My girls love red beans and when we are in a hurry I use canned. I just partially drain the beans then microwave them covered for about four minutes. This softens them up and then I cut the beans in half (with a sharp knife so they don't get smashed). They have not had ANY problems at all with them. I plan on introducing a variety of beans this way as they try new foods. They are just learning to feed themselves so they don't want ANY mashed foods Shelled & split mung beans, as well as lentils are also good to try. They are small and if cooked until soft they are easily mashed by the toothless HTH and welcome! Guest guest
The Vegetarian Baby book I have talks about beans a lot. one thing she suggests is actually grinding them up BEFORE soaking or cooking them. It makes a powder that can be added to lots of foods easily as a great source of protein. You might want to get that book. My son is 13 months old. Nice to meet you!
