Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this list and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Connie

Bendickson and I am a vegan mother of two children ages 6 & 3. We live in

the Minneapolis area. I homeschool part-time and I am the founder of

Healthy Moms, Healthy Families which is a ministry dedicated to inspiring

healthy eating habits for families and God's world.

I recently published my first book titled " The Healthy Moms Healthy Families

Handbook " . There is more information about me and my book on my website:

www.healthymomshealthyfamilies.com The first section of the book is " Why

Bother " and the rest is practical information about " How " to make the

transition to a plant-based diet. The recipes are all favorites of our

family and the book is written from a Christian perspective.

It's great to find a community of like-minded people!

Sincerely,

Connie Bendickson

Hi Connie, Welcome aboard! We're thinking about homeschooling, but I have

not heard of " part-time homeschooling " . How does that work?

Hi Bonnie,

I was not planning to homeschool, until I fell in love with a program at a

local church. It's a part-time Christian, Montessori, " school " -

technically it's not a school because all the students are registered as

homeschool students. The kids go Mon, Tues, Wed from 9-2, have most of Dec

and all of Jan off and we're done the first week in May. It's 50% school,

50% homeschool. The kids wear uniforms and we serve all healthy organic

snacks! The founder of the school bases most of the curriculum on the book

The Well Trained Mind - which is a classical educational approach. I feel

like we have the best of both worlds - more time at home with our kids and

yet a fabulous environment to be with other children. My daughter will be

in 1st grade this year...so I'm excited to really dig into the homeschooling

this year - Kindgergarten was a little more laid back.
