Guest guest
The dirt cake sounds yummy! I had great success making a soy ice cream cake last week and thought you might be interested (its the dirt cake and the ice cream cake that my kids miss) I bought two containers of Soy Delicious ice cream (we used the peanut butter chocolate and vanilla) and I package of Mi-Del chocolate snaps. Let the ice cream soften at room temperature while you get the other things together (you just want it malleable not liquid) I let my 4 yr old pummel the bag of chocolate snaps to make crumbs (yes they did burst open so you may want to monitor this closely or do it in a food processor.) Either line a container (I used a round mixing bowl) with plastic wrap or lightly oil it (I oiled it and it had to sit at room temp a few minutes to release. A friend tells me its easier with the plastic wrap.) Put one container of Soy Delicious in and use a rubber scraper to push it down. Then sprinkle half of the chocolate crumbs. Spread the second container of Soy Delicious. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate crumbs and press them in with rubber scraper. Pop it in the freezer for at least an hour. When your ready to serve, invert your container onto a serving plate and you have a two layer ice cream cake with chocolate crumbs in the center and on the bottom.
