I disagree. I think that this parent has the right idea. I know that my family

would not prepare vegetarian meals for me at the age of 9 and it did nothing to

change my feelings for wanting to be vegetarian. And I know families who were

very strict vegetarians and their children were in the lunchroom trading their

meals for meat. We can talk to our children and let them know why we are making

the choices we are making and hope that they follow our morals and choose not to

consume meat, but in the long run we have no control over our children's

decisions. I hope that my child will want to follow along with my beliefs about

not eating animals and I know I will be devastated if she chooses to eat meat,

but I will not cook it in my house and I will continue to try to influence her

decisions. I think that I would not be abdicating my responsibilities or morals

by laying down the best ground work possible and allowing my child to make

choices.
