I'm in Silver Spring and been in the D.C. area for 19 yrs. Since I teach childbirth classes, and am a doula and have a wellness center, I have some perspective in this area. There are very few times I'd reccommend going to an OB/GYN. I prefer and usually send friend, family and clients to a midwife or midwifery practice. That being said, let me know what area of D.C. and I can prob. make some suggestions. Peace, Laura
Guest guest
Kelle, It is rare to find physicians that are well educated about nutrition. Sadly it isn't part of the curriculum in medical school. Even though I think it should be. If you are looking for a birth attendant that will be veggie friendly, knowledgable and possibly veggie themselves I encourage you to find a good midwife. Unless you have serious complications a surgeon is overkill. Midwifery is the evidence based model of maternity care. I live in central Maryland so I'm only familiar with the midwives here but if you want me to see what my sources say about midwives in your area I'm sure they know of several. Good luck and good health, Stephanie , Kelle Young <youngskelle> wrote: > > > Hello, > > Does anyone recommend a OBGYN in Washington DC who is " vegetarian " patient friendly? > > Thank you! > > > > > > > Hotjobs: Enter the " Signing Bonus " Sweepstakes > >

Guest guest
I second that! I had a marvelous homebirth with my second son with an equally marvelous midwife, I will never have it any other way! Guest guest
well the only time mine did was when I was pregnant. I gained so much weight that they wanted me to only eat raw or steamed veggies and rice. No processed foods of any kind (which elimated the soy foods I was eating), nothing with added salt, no dairy, no meat (which I didn't eat anyway). On top of that I had a tooth infection that meant not being able to eat nuts, seeds or popcorn. I felt like I was starving to death. Guest guest
It was four years ago. I had toxemia but the doctors wouldn't call it that.. they absolutely refused to use the word. Yet they put me on an extremely strict diet. I would eat really good all day at work lots of raw fresh veggies, salads etc and then binge on junk food when I got home. It was at a point then of all I could take. I had high blood pressure, swelling, my feet swole so bad it hurt to walk.. my fingers swole so it hurt to type. I was taken out of work for a few weeks and put on bed rest. When I was released to go back to work I went into labour that week.. 4 weeks early. She was actually born 3 weeks and 6 days early because I had 16 hours of labour.
