Guest guest
Hi, My name is Anna, and I have a 29 months old daughter. I need some advice for a vegetarian toddler diet. In my country- Italy- there is a product called LIEVITO DI BIRRA ( yeast....I think) that is an excellent source of vitamin B12 and I am sure I can find it in the States but I do not know the right name, in fact at the natural food store they want the specific name ...any help? Melanie says " I feed her a lot of high fat breads, like gingerbread, pumpernickle " Melanie, I would love to have your gingerbread recipe....(...and what is the pumpernickle?) ----sorry for my English-- Terry says she orders some product on internet...Terry, could you please tell me the web site? Maybe I can find what I am looking for. THank you so much...I need any kind of advice....(I became Vegetarian few months ago and I am still learning ...) Guest guest
I think the name you are asking about is -nutritional yeast. This is not to be confused with yeast for breads. Most co-op stores in San Francisco carry this nutritional yeast. Good Luck, Tracy > Hi, > My name is Anna, and I have a 29 months old daughter. > I need some advice for a vegetarian toddler diet. > I am very concerned about B12 Vitamins. Guest guest
Hey, Anna!!! We still eat eggs, so we're not concerned about B-12. I also use nutritional yeast (I think that's what you're describing) and wheat germ several times a week. Are you all vegan? Guest guest
Hi Anna - Your English is fine. You can buy Vitamin B-12 supplements alone or mixed with other vitamins. I did a search on Google for the product you mentioned, and this is what I came up with: " I leaven of Beer Considered like the richest source for the vitamins of the B group, beyond that of other vitamins and minerals (chromium, zinc), enzymes, amino acids, I leaven of beer comes somministrato for dietetic and therapeutic use; it does not provoke fermentation, it resists to the action of antibiotics, helps the liver to carry out its function, increases the ability to absorption of carbohydrates, stimulates the antibody production. Good integrator of: B1 vitamin (tiamina), B2 (riboflavina), B12, B5, H vitamin, colina, folic acid, niacina, PABA, inosito it, zinc, chromium. " If you go to www.Google.com (or any other search engine) and type in " buy LIEVITO DI BIRRA " it will list web sites (in Italian) where you can buy this product. You can do the same for Freeda Chewables, the vitamin Terry mentioned. Hope that helps! Tracey =^..^= www.KindheartedWomen.com FREE SHIPPING! Guest guest
Anna, It is probably Nutritional Yeast. Is what you are getting kind of a yellowish flake or powder? If not, nutritional yeast is a good source of Vitamin B12. There is a whole food website where you can find it. If you put the name in a search engine, you should be able to find many stores, so you can price shop. But here is one online store, www.bulkfoods.com. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Just be aware of the particular nutritional yeast product that you are buying because I do not think that all brands are fortified with B-12. I know that Red Star is. , melanie casto <melaniekcasto> wrote: > > > Anna, > > It is probably Nutritional Yeast. Is what you are getting kind of a yellowish flake or powder? Guest guest
Lievito di birra translates to brewer's yeast in English. Brewer's Yeast is a good source of Vitamin B12. However, as the others have previously stated Nutritional Yeast is also an excellent source of B12, and it is quite tasty to add to food. Both should be readily available at your local natural foods store or online. I hope this helps. AnnaRosaUsa wrote: Hi, My name is Anna, and I have a 29 months old daughter.
