I wouldn't say my skin is oily, but it can dry out easily with some products. When I got married dh told me maybe I should stop doing stuff to it. I thought for sure I would have horrible skin. I have nice skin now. It's at it's best when I wash it no more than once a day. Best if I don't do it in the shower. I'm super gentle with my skin. I suggest finding a very gentle cleanser. Lately I've been using some castille soap. Baking soda is my favorite trick for keeping my pores clear. I use it a few times a week. I just keep some in the shower. I sprinkle a good clump in my hand and then pour over some of my castille soap. I was using something I got a Trader Joes..I think it's Alba Botanica. Scrub lightly and keep away from the eyes. If I have a dry spot or two then I use some moisturizer right there only. I'm trying to use up some leftover Burt's Bees stuff right now. After that I think I might start using coconut oil. I hear all kinds of good stuff about that stuff =) Good luck..acne is such a bummer. Heatherlee
Guest guest
I have a problem with acne, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good natural cleanser that isn't too expensive that would help with my problem Many times this is a result of a food allergy. Wheat being the culprit many times. If your skin is dry, this indicates not enough water and if you do not supplement with Omega fatty acids, that will help as well. I would suggest doing a gentle cleanse, and elimination diet and see what happens. If you have questions about this process, please feel free to email me. Guest guest
Maybe this sounds gross, but if you mash a clove of garlic, put it on your breakouts, and let it stand a few seconds, then wash it off, it will clear you up. I have very sensitive skin too, and it doesn't bother my skin. But I make sure to do it before I take a shower, or you will smell like garlic. But garlic is cheap, and natural. Guest guest
I had severe acne from the time I was 13 to my mid 20's. I tried everything on the market, went from dermatologist to dermatologist for help, taking prednisone and antibiotics. But nothing kept the bumps away. I cut out sugar, meat, dairy, etc. No sodas, etc. Increased water consumption, took vitamins. Still nothing work. Then I miraculously discovered that peanuts/peanut butter made me break out. To make a long story short, I cut out the peanuts and my skin has been crystal clear for almost 20 years. I get compliments on how pretty my skin is. The physical scars have gone completely, but some memories of those emotional scars are still there. I use nothing but Aubrey products on my face. - <VAP79 Friday, March 12, 2004 8:57 AM Re: acne > > I have a problem with acne, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a > good natural cleanser that isn't too expensive that would help with > my problem > Many times this is a result of a food allergy. > Wheat being the culprit many times. > If your skin is dry, this indicates not enough water and if you do not > supplement with Omega fatty acids, that will help as well. > I would suggest doing a gentle cleanse, and elimination diet and see what > happens. > If you have questions about this process, please feel free to email me. > Peace, > Laura > > >

A word of caution about keeping your skin " squeaky clean " : overwashing can actually worsen acne. Your skin gets irritated, is more vulnerable to bacteria, and actually increases oil production to make up for what keeps getting washed away. I wouldn't recommend washing more than once a day, and avoid any harsh cleansers. Even normal bath soap may be too harsh for your face, so try a mild cleanser (not soap) instead. My break-outs improved a lot once I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and started taking metformin to treat that. Some of the other symptoms are excess weight, irregular periods, insulin resistance, and hair loss or excess body hair. You don't have to have all of them to have PCOS. If you think that might be a possibility, see a doctor and get checked out. Also, not using bath soap on my face and using a light moisturizer regularly have helped immensely. ---- Patricia Bullington-McGuire <patricia The brilliant Cerebron, attacking the problem analytically, discovered three distinct kinds of dragon: the mythical, the chimerical, and the purely hypothetical. Guest guest
What about homeopathic remedies. I had an break-out for about a year and finally bought some homeopathic stuff. I never got around to using it because at the same time I bought a face cream-Phytocort Acne Cream which really helped after about 2 weeks of using it faithfully. The breakout was only in one spot. :)Madeline > " veggieks2000 " <fiona25 > > > acne >Wed, 10 Mar 2004 19:45:03 -0000 > >I have a problem with acne, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a >good natural cleanser that isn't too expensive that would help with >my problem. Guest guest
I am a McDougaller, and he recommends avoiding all oils, in addition to dairy etc.mentioned before. I never knew you could saute veggies in 1/2 cup water and get delicious results using no oil in cooking. Maybe that will help!
