Guest guest
I'm goin' to Manhattan for a day and a half!! Recommendations are most welcome for **vegan** businesses I can support, especially bakery/cafes, and of course I have the Happy Cow list of veggie restaurants, but any shops or other places, please let me know. I'll have from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning. I would also love to hear of cool bars, fave haunts, a don't-miss stage show (no musicals), or other recommendations. I've done the touristy stuff. I leave on April 3rd. Thanks!!!
Guest guest
You must go to Zen Palate (a few locations: I know Broadway at about 76th, Ninth in the forties, and Union Square). It's my favorite. Also, there's a new Whole Foods Market in the new Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle; I read that they have a cafe. Terry - Doh! Guest guest
I was in Manhattan 3 weeks ago and ate at Zen Palate on 9th Ave & 46th St. The food was excellent! They have several locations and have been open for many years. Their website is www.zenpalate.com. You can look at their menu online to see if it is a place you would enjoy. Have fun! Guest guest
If you haven't been there before, I would recommend Hangawi, it's a vegan Korean restaurant on 32nd Street between 5th and Madison (toward the middle of the block). Quite the unique experience. Phil Welsher

Someone else recommended Zen Palate, and another called Dojo. Of course I'll be visiting Whole Foods - I work for them! ~Doh ----------- " Everything will be okay in the end. Guest guest
Doh, I didn't realize you worked for Whole Foods. That place is amazing. When I moved to California from NYC in 1990 and first set foot in the Whole Foods in Palo Alto I thought I was in heaven. It's funny that it took so long for them to open one in Manhattan. Now I live on the south coast of Massachusetts and the closest WF is in Providence about 30 miles away. We're told our demographics here wouldn't support one -- they may be right. I'm a lonely vegetarian (since 1978) in the land of lobster and meat raffles! Have a wonderful trip to New York, the greatest city in the world! Terry > Thanks, Terry!
